  • Do you have a membership?

    • Yes can't be bothered to download Doordash app as I am cheapie and knew Doordash is a real ripe off. I rarely order eat out. Every penny counts.

      • Just download the app, I believe you can browse without making an account.

Also, there are regular promotions on there that can actually land you cheaper or almost equal prices to what you pay by going to a store.

  • +2

Doordash price is higher vs in store even for member, then you have the delivery fee and service fee on top of that.

E.g. hot cross bun in store is 12.99 vs 13.32 at doordash member

    • What about essentials item such as Kirkland toilet paper?

      • +1

Everything is bit higher. But if you get Doordash $100 gift voucher from Costco for $80. It becomes close to in-store price

      • Wouldn’t it be easier to download the app and check the prices? Would’ve taken the same length of time as writing the post + asking questions?

    • Doordash gets paid for the sales lead for the retailer. You get to walk into the store and the order is ready to go without having to pick it yourself and wait in line to pay etc. Convenience at a premium price.

ie on pickup orders they get 10-15%, on delivery it's 15-30% depending what tier you choose(higher commission gets you stuff like dashpass for your store, your store listing moved to the top of the page(for dashpass users), extended delivery range etc. All of which can lead to a massive amount of sales).

Stores pass on most/all of the fee and make out like bandits with the extra sales
