Can't enter a lot of valid email addresses in the form, such as @mydomain.co.nz and @myotherdomain.com. I understand you're trying to avoid bots and temporary email addresses, but you're restricting valid emails as well.

Are you planning on other types of insurance as well? I only see car insurance.

  • Thank you for pointing out the issue of restricting valid emails. We are considering adding home insurance or health insurance, or perhaps a car repair comparison service. What are your thoughts on this?

  • Great stuff! Thanks, Edwin Z!
Apart from car, house and health you might want to look into adding motorcycle, contents, boat, jetski, mobile phone insurance etc
    Cheers

  • @Edwin Z
I habe just tried out your website.
I disliked the following and I hope this helps! I do NOT intend to criticise you here! I only want to help.
    - I could not "play around" with the different excesses
    - your website does not offer the options "glass" and "roadside assistance". However, since those are then offered on each insurer's own website at different prices I cannot compare.
    - you don't list all NZ insurers
    - the question years of driving in NZ. Since I have lived overseas on and off I find that hard to calculate. Also, does a five month long stint travelling around overseas need to be taken into account?
Insurance always want the exact info or they might decline a future claim!
Maybe a better option would be "how many years have you had your (learner's, restricted, full) NZ licence!? On top of the question of how many years have you had a licence, in case you got that overseas.

    • Thank you so much for your feedback! We’re currently looking into adding more options, like glass cover, as well as more insurance providers. You should see these updates roll out in the next few days!

      • I just checked out your website and it's still not showing glass cover and it's been 5 months…?

  • Great stuff! Is there any way we can choose a top 2 or 3 favourites and print to pdf? Otherwise, it's great and satisfied that I am on the correct insurance. Thanks.

  • Seems great, but could there be an option to add multiple drivers. Generally a younger driver being added to the insurance results in quite a big jump in premiums.

  • 🙌 Thanks so much for all the support and feedback!
, and I’ve recently added home, health, life insurance and credit card comparisons to the site.

I’d love for you to give it a try and share your thoughts—your feedback will help me improve the platform and make insurance shopping even easier for everyone in NZ.

  • Just looking at getting a new car insurance and seeking advice here as this seems to be the latest post on car insurance.

From experience with 3 different insurance companies in the past, once the owner of the car is insured with a comprehensive cover, the car is covered even if another person (qualified to drive and over 25 years of age etc) drives the car just as the owner and the car would be covered. Why is there an option to 'add more people on the policy who could drive the car' nowadays? What is the purpose exactly?

Would appreciate any good advice thanks!

    • My understanding is the difference of a named driver, vs unnamed is usually the risk factor and associated excess.
By listing all of the regular drivers of the vehicle, the insurer calculates the premium (and excess) based on the "known" risks of that group of drivers.
Unnamed drivers, (while still generally insured) are ultimately unknown risks, and therefore may come under additional scrutiny in terms of eligibility to the insurance post event, and more than likely will have a higher excess applied.

Some googling came up with the following website which may help clarify better than I can!

      • Cheers :)

  • Very much needed website, some of the quotes are are few dollars out , but checking manually, the quotes for which company is cheapest is spot on and pretty much perfect!!!

one small note - can you add for Toyota aqua, Tower for example Tower have this disclaimer:

"For Comprehensive and Third party, fire and theft policies, an additional excess of $1,200 applies to claims for theft of this vehicle. We won't apply this additional excess if you can provide proof satisfactory to Tower that this vehicle was fitted with a functioning alarm system with an immobiliser at the time of the loss."

This makes a massive difference compared to for example anz/vero who do not have that additonal excess.
