Car Rental Discounts in Auckland

Hi,
Looking for 6-7 seater rental car for 3 days in Auckland during end of March. Any good discounts out there? Based in West Auckland, so Airport pickup seems far and inconvenient (but will have to take it if that's the only option).

Had a look at Avis, but I don't see a 6+ seater, unless I am doing something wrong.

Cheers.

James Blonde is quite well rated in Google.
Had a good experience with them getting a moving truck. They have Highlanders and Carnivals too. Glen Eden area. Never found a promo code that works on their website though.

Forgot to add. Have used the Hyundai Staria 8 seater from Avis in CHCH. Got it through the PSA discount code and it worked out to quite a good price for us. They seem to have the Staria listed as available for random dates next week and the week after at Auckland Airport.

No issues with Ezi car rentals if you dont find a deal.
GADSR10 might still work as a code else they are on CSC

  • HireAce is also another option. They have 9-13 seater minibuses and have a branch on Lincoln Road.

    • Those are too big and not that comfortable for long rides especially with kids

Full Disclosure: I am related to someone who works for this company. Mods - apologies if this is not allowed.
Airport rentals have a sale starting today. NZ based Car rental aggregator. Some decent supplier specials. I'll leave this with you to decide if it's for you or not.

Try Metropolitan Rentals. They are on dominion road and have a bunch of different minivans. Not always the most well kept vehicles, but the pricing is good and they have their own fuel bowser and charge normal prices for fuel. Or if you can get your hands on a CSC membership, the discounts with Hertz are pretty decent.

  • Ace rentals: ENTBOOK or EB15OFF

They have late model diesel Kia carnival's, which are really nice car's. Be aware they only allow payment by credit card (they refuse cash, eftpos etc), and charge a ~2% credit card fee (Quite unreasonable that this is not disclosed at the time of booking). Also be aware they recover RUC's on diesel & EV vehicles (reasonable, but only disclosed in the fine print).

Prices of all rental cars vairy a lot by date, so you really do need to spend a few hours shopping different options. It is only likely the local operators who will have an office in west Auckland. Likely you will need to go to the airport or CBD for pickup from the big brands.

    • Did spend little time on checking options and gathered about RUC cost and most of the pickup would be around airport or CBD. Considering some don't have late pickup/drop offs it seems like a hassle now. So still haven't finalized yet.

Currently planning for 21st Mar to 23rd March.

Just don't leave it to the last 48 hours or so.

Last time I was going to rental a van, I was going to go for an imax from go rentals, but it went past midnight 2 days prior, and it was no longer available from the CBD branch (Meaning I would need to drive out to the airport, and when I phoned, they said I could not leave a car at the branch for the weekend)… Ment I had to go with ace instead (opposite side of the CBD from me), and a bit more expensive (but a more modern Kia Carnaval, that I am fond of.).

You could also check my car, your rental, a peer to peer rental service, in case something is local for you.
