Crazy that a phone that is over 2 years old is still close to $2000 on sale…

    • It's also already out of stock. This is the 1TB model though, and no one actually purchases that.

    • +1

And they don't even include a wall adapter to charge it with. At least the pro models should IMO to get benefits of fast charging..

    • +1

I haven't kept up to date with phones for a while and assumed with the price tag it was the latest one 😂 just shows you how much of a premium they charge for storage

  • Any thoughts on the Redmi phones? Why is the older model more expensive when not on sale??

    • If you're looking at the 12, I'd personally recommend a note 13 for ~$300 from kogan over it, or getting a note 13 pro or note 14 series from china. Just make sure you're getting a global variant if buying from china - 14 series global is rumoured to come in december.
I'm not so familiar with the 10 or how it compares at this price point.

With pricing, I'm guessing PB keeps their original base prices from years ago to make items appear perpetually on sale

  • Have a samsung s20 Ultra i'm looking to upgrade.

Dont really care if it's new referbished or 2nd hand.

What Make model would you recommend going for for an aprox $500 budget?

If you want processing power upgraded, maybe Xiaomi Poco F6 ~$560 @amazon. I think you'd be getting less water resistance and a worse camera, though.

Given your phone is $569 refurbed, I'd hold onto it or increase your budget. Something like S24 FE would generally be a good upgrade. I think that was $8xx in a recent post. Maybe keep an eye on deals during black Friday.

I have no clue about the second-hand phone market.

      • I'd wait for Iqoo 13 - comes with latest SD elite processor with ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and a crazy bright OLED panel expected to be around 800 - 850 NZD.

        • It looks like it's already out, at least in China, though it costs 3999 CNY before tax, around $1085 NZD incl. GST without shipping.

Does iQOO have a global variant? From what I can tell, unlocking Chinese ROM phones' bootloaders is now impossible or at least difficult due to new laws. Global variants tend to cost a premium - I can't imagine one costing less than $1200.

          • @BJ: There's def a global variant with google play and global ROM. I know as it's launching in India. you can get it for 850 with launch offers.

            • @Encounter Ekambaram: Do you mind sharing which marketplace or store you see this pricing on? I'm not at all familar with Indian sites

              • @BJ: It's not on sale yet. Which is why I said you need to wait for it. You can check their official page https://shop.iqoo.com/in/sp/iqoo13?from=iQOO%2013

                • @Encounter Ekambaram: "I know as it's launching in India. you can get it for 850 with launch offers." This made it sound like you have seen presale prices or marketing somewhere. When I looked for pricing in India, the only price I could find was ~$950NZD before tax and shipping, which is marginally above Chinese prices, and around $1100NZD all up.

                  • @BJ: the launch price (if you managed to get one in the first 2 days) is typically 4-5k rupees lower than the usual selling price. I got the poco X6 pro for 25k rupees on launch day which was cheaper than the price in Aliexpress.

Wait for the Samsung Nz deals and trade it in for a new S24/S24+/Ultra, with all the stacks you'd get it down to $500-1000 for those phones
Should be a Black Friday one coming up
