  Hmmm… Note this on their page: "This Android/Windows device is designed to function specifically with the current Android/Windows OS installed on it. Any alterations such as upgrades, modding with custom ROMs, rooting or flashing the Android device with other firmware will automatically void the device's warranty." These Chinese phones come with lots of bloatware and spyware installed (google this) by the outlets that sell them. The first thing anyone should do is download an untouched ROM from the manufacturer's site and wipe their new phone clean. But that, according to the "disclaimer" above, apparently voids any warranty. "Any alterations" could even mean installing apps from Google Play. Shady, at best. This phone has a good price and good specs, and I'm looking for a phone replacement but I'm not buying from them.

    To be fair, most all retailers state this. Very few will actually not honor a hardware fault if there is a software issue. IIRC, it is actually not legal in NZ under CGA to not honor the warranty for a hardware fault anyway.

    Doesn't apply here obviously, but yea, most would have a clause like this.

  Sorta wished that it was the Redmi Note 2 on sale, with the MicroSD card slot and removable battery. Too bad the Everbuying one on sale only have TD-SCDMA/TDD-LTE which is incompatible in NZ.
