Best Place to Buy a MacBook

My partner needs to replace her old macbook and a macbook air seems like the best option, I know the prices dropped with the release of the M3 chip, she really only needs the M1 chip but a higher spec RAM/SSD would be nice. Where is the cheapest place to buy it? Im guessing it's either JB since they usually knock the price down if you ask or Costco? Anyone know what the best deal is currently?
Thanks

Getting a deal on Apple products is pretty much impossible. The price reductions are very minimal .

    • to add on to this:

Sometimes they do get reduced, but it's at apple's (or rather, whoever apple's distributor or whoever is into nz, idk)'s discretion.

JB sometimes do 'cost + gst' which, at a guess includes a bulk sales rebate because it drops ~$150-200 off of an M1 8gb air. Noel Leeming will do the same but usually a bit worse.

But to walk in on a given sunday, you're shit out of luck to get much of a discount

  • If you know someone in education, teacher or student you could go that route. Alternatively you could try Appleā€™s refurbished products https://www.apple.com/nz/shop/refurbished

    • fyi they dont check in nz! Fire away with any appleid.

  • Education store. You don't need to verify your status. Just use your regular apple id.

  • Buying direct from apple allows you to get AppleCare. It's best value for 'dropping it' protection.
