Or just pay $75 a month on 300/100 with Hotshot or some other provider. No contract and you get to have more flexibility and potentially save more with your existing power provider, without having to bundle this and that.

    • Without bundling this is still cheaper, signed up to it in January with the 4 months free

    • $75 x 12 months = $900 per year
      ($0 x 4 months) + (97 x 8 months) = $776 per year

$124 saving per year, or around $10.33 per month cheaper.
And based off past deals like this, if/when they increase the price during your contracted period, you often have a way to exit without penalty making it easy to move onto another similar promo making the saving substantily less

        Or 4 months $0 + $250 early termination fee = $62.50 a month, not too bad

          I like your idea….

        • I also like your idea…

        • Interesting, I also also like your idea…

        • I will subscribe to this idea.

        • I now certify you to be the Best Comment on Cheapies! 😊

        • Except won't you have to cancel in the 3rd month, so you would lose some of that 3rd month due to the time delay of transferring connection?

          • @nzmax: You have to give 30 days notice. So just call Slingshot about 30 days before the end of the 4 month period and say you want to close your account on the last day of the next billing cycle. You'd probably only lose days if that last day was a weekend as I think you'd have to have the new connection done on a weekday. Or maybe a day if you choose to have the new connection connected on the day before your connection with slingshot ends. This just saves Slingshot disconnecting in the morning but Chorus not making the new connection until the afternoon (I'm not 100% this is how it works. If Chorus is the one also making the disconnection then I guess they'd disconnect and connect at the same time so you'd only lose 5 minutes of service).

I've never had a problem with being able to choose a day to connect a new service. Even when it was under 2 weeks, I just had to call the ISP to arrange instead of being able to just choose when signing up.

      • Is that actually possible, or will you have to go into the 13th month to prevent any risk of closing the account before the 12 month contract is up. Plus they probably require a minimum of a months notice, so you have to make sure you time things well when you switch to another provider..

  • any idea when the offer ends?

    • +3

Unsure of the end date but the offer has been around for at least a year

  • Why does the deal state $5 off per month if you add mobile if all the order forms on slingshot.co.nz state $10 off? Doesn't matter whether going through slingshot itself, glimp or broadband compare, they all take off $10pm, am I missing something?

    • For reference, I ended up signing up to this with a mobile plan too and the discount was $10pm.

  • Anyone with Contact Energy here?

I currently have a broadband bundle plan with them. Thinking of switching to another bb company. But was wondering if my electricity/gas rates will change if I cancel my broadband with them?

    • With contact energy but not broadband. CGNAT or what ever it is made me avoid it.
If you are saving on power by bundling broadband, you will loose those benefits.

    • That's why I would never bundle the two services, as this complication is what prevents people wanting to deal with that hassle switching.

I am also with Contact Energy for both fibre and power. Just signed the contracts to switch fibre to this 4-month free deal with Slingshot and wondered the exact same thing. I ended up switching power provider to Flick Electric just in case - Flick Electric was cheaper for power. If you have gas as well, then we're not in the same situation.

      • I have gas with CE. The thing is I got a really cheap power/gas rate from my sign up last year. I checked the new sign up rates are so much higher. So I don't wanna lose those rates. Gonna call them up this Week to see if cancelling my bb will affect my current power/gas rates.

  • Wow broadband has become so expensive now :-/ If anything I thought this would be getting less expensive over time.
We currently have a pretty good deal $64 per month for Gigabit internet with 2degrees … but when the 12 month contract expires I'll be shopping around again!

    • Not sure about your requirements for broadband. I started to use Skinny 4G wireless broadband last year. It was $45 plus 4 months free and with $27 skinny mobile plan. So it is $72 only for my broadband and mobile altogether. The speed is pretty much acceptable for me. I don't play online games but I watch youtube and other online streaming services.

  • Is the static IP also free for 4 months?
