How much did the WAT SYS AFHK-TJWI cost you?

    • Yeah have the same question too.. How much - any ballpark?

    • $2200 -

      Included 2x Filters
      1. 1 micron sediment Polyspun filter
      2. 1 micron KDF and Carbon Block

      • +1

The problem with one micron is that you'll only get a few months before it starts to block. I put one in town a few years ago and we used 5M Carbon and 20 Polyspun filter 10" last about one year for just over $100 maintenance, you start putting one micron 20 inch might you be looking at $200+ every six months.

        • What do you think about the Puretec WH2-60? Seems quite popular here in Canterbury. Some guys are offering a special for $1250 installed. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid03339…

          • @Stoic: Water filters and their salesman are just like oil filter companies, oil filters do not clean oil they only filter oil to 20 micron and the only way to clean oil is to change it. I would just go to a plumber if you can't do it yourself, ask him for a water filter system, 20 inch or 10, one carbon filter and one Poly spun filter. The only reason people want to carbon filter is to take the chlorine taste out of the drinking water, and also can remove any taint in the water. If there are any minerals in the water that you want to remove, they are usually in a salt form, but then need to be oxidised and then filtered just like iron water needs to be oxidised to turn into iron oxide and then the filter can remove the iron. You don't need a UV steriliser, unless you're on tank water or a well.

I got a full home system installed with UV steriliser for quite a bit less than that. Also beware that HRV is in the water filter market because (like their ventilation solutions) replacement parts wholesale cheaply, retail for a lot, and they get to tell you when you need a filter replacement - it's an ongoing revenue stream for them with very good margins.

Replacing the filters is not hard (unless, of course, HRV have deliberately made it hard by having their own custom, incompatible filters manufactured - it wouldn't surprise me). Couldn't tell from their website, but it would pay to ask.

Basically, be wary of the upsell and ongoing costs.

  • I currently have an espring the replacement filters are expensive Im looking for a suitable option that works out cheaper CheapAzChips- you have a UV sterilizer what kind? what does it taste like? im super fussy with water!
