Has anyone else noticed that tapping the voting buttons had been painfully slow in recent months? Sometimes it seems to take 4-5s to register. Often I wonder if the tap/click had even registered so I'll click/tap a few times, but recently I've discovered it does register, it's just super slow to respond with the upvote.

It's way slower than it used to be and not even that long ago.
Yeah, that's been my experience. Used to be pretty responsive but now it often takes a few seconds to update.
Thought it was just me, but yep have noticed this weeks ago. And you can't seem to remove your vote anymore. I remember you used to be able to do that.
There appears to be a bug with underlying memcache library that affect only one of the keys. We downgraded to an older version of the library and now voting is fast again. I have not yet looked into the 3rd party library to see what might be the cause. Sorry it took a while.

Thanks for the report. There are a lot of calculation behind that +1 vote on the deals (eg sockpuppeting detection), which I won't go into details but there's certainly room for optimisation.
