The Wahoo Elemnt Roam GPS computer has been put to clearance at 99 Bikes for $249 - usual RRP is $549.95. This is a discontinued model (replaced by the Roam 2) but still a great GPS cycling computer! Club Membership is required.

Main advantages over a phone:
* Robust
* Waterproof
* Long battery life with screen on
* Small
* Connects to more sensors, although most cycling stuff has Bluetooth these days but some still use Ant- 1

That makes sense also the screen looks matte so probably easier to see in daylight

Also, you can simply just glance down and not lose situational awareness by fiddling with unlocking a phone.

When i'm out on a long bike ride I want to preserve phone battery in case of an emergency, so that's reason enough to have a separate device. Other than that, it's a device that connects to all my cycling peripherals (radar/di2/power meter/hrm) easily and has a screen made for viewing in direct sunlight.

Note this is the older v1, not the more recent v2 which has dual band GPS and USB C

Yeap, I was watching this - thought I missed a deal when they were $299 on the Boxing Day sales. And then… ended up buying 2 after the missus saw it lol

Silly question but why not use your phone instead?
