Dick Smith Dumping Old Stock

So DSE shares have tumbled and over in Aus they have been clearing stock such as Xbox One bundles for as low as A$150, has anyone heard of any deals over here?

To quote: http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/74570776/dick-smith-cuts-the…

"There's some product we need to clear and the only way we can clear it is at a lower price.
"Customers are going to get fantastic pricing in the lead-up to Christmas on a number of our products."

There are reports of a 70% off sale this weekend in Oz

Could be good news for bargain hunters.

  • I think they did something like that a while ago over in Oz …supposedly staff members got all the best deals before the general public.

  • NZ's always been a bit of a dumping ground for older electronics etc. When living in Asia, would come back here, be like stepping back in time. Old tech many times the price of what it was overseas.

Few years ago, remember being offered a 128GB USB stick in Beijing. At a time when we were lucky to get 1GB sticks at a huge price. Thought it was bogus and passed. Kicked myself when later realised it was the latest tech at a fraction of the price of NZ gear.

There is a post over on OzBargain regarding this, we are keeping an eye on how it goes as supposedly NZ is included as well on Thursday and Friday, according to a DS staff member.

Correct that this has happened before though, and all the best deals were snaffled by staff.

Apparently in store only, but please don't buy into their hype too early, they do this all the time with their "Up to 70% off" crap. Best to wait until we know exactly what stuff they are offering at what prices.

Will have a deal post up if it's worthwhile. At least I'm sure someone will, could be a winner if it's decent.

The retailer is expected to kick off a massive clearance sale on Saturday to sell off excess stock.

  • Visited the DSE in Botany … $10 and $20 console games and various headsets marked down.
Ended up buying bulk pack of AA (40 pack) and AAA (30 pack) for $10 each.
It may be an interesting place to visit over the next few days.

  • For anyone wanting to contribute, this has been posted as a deal.
