When Do 2023 TV Models Get Heavily Discounted?

Have been looking at getting a new TV for a while now. Currently looking at this - LG-C3-65-4K-OLED-Smart-TV from PBTech for $3656 but do these 2023 models get slashed come 2024?

Am I better off waiting for the new year?

Haven't bought a new TV in about 9 years so not familiar with it.

Thanks!

  • Im after a new tv too. My tv also 9 years old and developed a bright spot.

Was thinking about sony 65 x95k for $2300 but wanted it a bit cheaper.

Didn't find equivalent samsung at a good price (prefer samsung as it has some features that work with my soundbar (hw990c).

The 8 series hisense seems ok too.

Happy to go lcd bc of bright room viewing.

    • I mean Sony 65 x95k for $2845. Hisense 65 8 series $2300 and Sony 65 xl90 are $2185.

  • Dont forget to use pricespy price history it's very useful and may assist you in what you're looking for.

Thats not true, the new models usually come out from about July to October and thats when the massive drops come in for the "current" year model.

New TVs are not released at the start of the year.

I always thought it was between March - June? My friend picked up an OLED in July on clearance

Usually July - October is when the new "year" model comes in and they discount heavily the previous year to reduce all stock. Some REALLY good deals to be had.

    • Really good depending on retailer. Noel Leeming seem to just leave the old ones out for yonders. I had my eye on their floor model LG c2 42 and it went for something like $1800 (know people at the store) which was much higher than its all time low

  • I am also eyeing a new 65" OLED TV. Any reason you're going for the C3? Reviews point to the Samsung S90C being better for a lower price ($3148 @ JB and Harvey norman at the mo').

    • no real idea why. I just saw pbtech were out of stock on that particular model. I watched a few YT videos and said WebOS is better than what samsung OS offers..

    • Ive seen s90c instore and the black doesn't seem as deep as the lg models?

  • Sister works for a big name supplier. Asked her and she said that theyll start culling in March/April, and expect to see big box retailers clearing them after that

    • It all depends when does the new year model come in mass stock

  • Between May and July usually.

It's been whacky since covid and the all-at-once thing has changed.

Noel Leeming, specifically, will not discount straight away

  • Usually mid year.
