Fly in style on one of the best airlines in the world - 5-star Hainan Airlines - to China!

This is the cheapest I've seen to China as far as I can recall. And it's not even a low cost carrier - it's Hainan, 5-star with 2x32kg bags!

If you're looking for a better deal, you'll be waiting a long time, I'd predict.

  • Love this!! When I go through to BudgetAir site it changes from $560 to $847 though?

    • +1

I suspect there aren't many available at that price, and it's slowly updating as they get sold :/ Takes a while for the data to flow through the various providers.

  • Clicked on several dates AKL-GZ, prices seem gone up double.

  • Cheers for another great flight post, although I didn't get anywhere near the prices you found strangely. But I think I found a pretty good one to Shenzhen with Mytrip (is $910 return a good deal?) after numerous date changing and searching (not sure if that's how you do it or call me old school haha). However, I have no idea and zero experience with these OTAs. I would appreciate any tips and advice thanks :)

    • Not too strangely, I suspect, it's looking like a lot of the dates may have had only a few for sale at that price, they're vanishing fast.

That's usually the way to do it, although I have a python script running now to recheck the 4 routes above for earlier in the year. Updating as I go.

      • Ah I see. Well I haven't booked yet so your regular updates would be much appreciated ;)
As for the OTA bookings and from your experiences, are any of the many "extras" ie. lost baggage, flight delays etc necessary?

        • +1

Check your credit card (if you use one) - a lot of them include travel insurance if you use the card to book the flights.

I personally don't bother with most of the 'extras', but travel insurance is often said to be the one you can't afford to travel without.

Edit: note that you could probably get your own travel insurance in NZ, rather than their one.
