Christmas trees on steep discounts after Xmas?

Never really noticed this but recently had a baby and maybe want to join in the tradition.. does Christmas trees have a steep discount after 25th? If so where would you recommend? After lush ones that are 2m tall.

  • Pretty much everywhere that sells them, they will be on clearance - we have always bought our new ones on or around 26 / 27 Dec, and I think usually at least half-price, if not less, but I can't really recall.

You can get real ones even cheaper…..

    • oh cheers will have a look around now

  • If you are a fan of the Farmers trees they normally go on a decent discount just before christmas through past boxing day

    • oh thanks! yes, I do like the look of them. Do you know how decent the discounts are? I saw its currently 60% off now but out of stock for the height that I want.

  • +1

  • Stores have smartened up in recent years and have begun progressively discounting seasonal products in the lead-up to the event instead of after it - this means that there is now sometimes little to nothing on offer come the day after.

    • I have heard some places put excess stock into storage till the following season.

      • Only if they have the space. Warehousing isnt free and at times its better to keep stock moving vs storing it for a year.

        • This - there is almost always an alternate use for space, and that is the minimum cost of using it for something else.

        • This is true I can speak for one of the big chain supermarkets who has off site storage and keeps excess food from Xmas there yes the dates are short the following year but they are saleable

    • Calendars are a good case in point.

  • Any clearance deals on trees?
