Best Value Items for Cost + Gst Sales?

Through work I frequently get offers for things like JB HiFi Cost + GST or Cost + 5% sales. Frustratingly you have to go in and ask to actually find out what that means something will cost. From comments on these types of sales on here, I've noted it's often not a very good deal, so I haven't bothered.

However it was also noted some items tend to be better in these types of sales than others, I was wondering if someone who is clued up could give some guidance on that.

I worked for a retailer that does that very often.

Pricespy is so often cheaper than the 'cost +' because cost changes and doesnt include rebates

Items that don't go on sale with no rebates.

Eg. A custom speaker stand, stacking brackets for a washer and dryer, things that a shop has to custom order to get in for you but are not in the regular Catalog.

From my time at JB, high discounts would apply to headphones, cables, Bluetooth speakers, cases, TVs and general accessories.

Phones, computers, cameras and games aren't much of a discount but 10-20% at most

  • Also homebrand items are significantly cheaper since the retailer has total control over pricing.
