Single vineyard Villa Maria wine for the price of their private bin range. I believe this will be the 2021, which is very good. Still $29.99 from the vineyard shop.

    • Yes, that is actually where I bought mine from and why I think the WhiskyOnline one will also be 2021. However, it is slightly more expensive because there is no coupon code and shipping is higher. Note that when a vineyard starts clearing out wine via online outlets they often do it at more than one place. The trick is to get the true deals before they're all gone!

      • how is this bottle? review?

        • For me, this is pretty good but not as good as the Villa Maria reserve I also listed. I bought the reserve from WhiskyOnline because it sold out at www.thegoodwine.co.nz. The 2021 Seddon is similar to the 2022 which I was buying for $25 from www.thegoodwine.com (so it's really $10 savings per bottle). Sam Kim gives the 2021 94/100.

  • Really love the reserve version this vine. This is a good deal.

Single vineyard trends to be more expensive than reserve although i recall having single vineyard gold label (cellar selection equivalent) in the past. Mostly been black label (reserve equivalent) lately.
This one is white label, haven't seen these before unless they are at the private bin level.

We go through 2-3 bottles a month to need to to up. Don't know what will happen to supply now that villa Maria went bust and is bought out…

    • which one is better private bin, reserve or cellar selection?

      • +1

Private bin is cheapest then cellar selection then reserve.

Then there are single vineyard. These are surprise, surprise, meant to be grapes from one location when quantity and quality justifies a dedicated run.
So my take on it single vineyard will be at least on the reserve level but may have different characteristics to a more generic reserve range.

  • Sold out?

  • so those who bought it, how was it?

    • The fruit flavours come through strong at the beginning, but as I'm gettinf to the end of the bottle you realky start to nw3e

      • Looks like you might've had a few glasses already tonight

        • Literally taking the piss…
