  • Its a shame so many of their bikes are "in store only".

    • My thoughts exactly. There are at least a couple of E-Bikes I'd be keen on, but it's a no go.

    • Is that because you don't live near a store? That's a bummer but the manufacturers have a policy requiring a technician build the bike to ensure its safety otherwise they could be liable.

      • I'm not far from a store, but they weren't keen to ship to my local. Also can't be purchased online.
And yes you're correct about the bikes needing to be assembled by a tech, but it would be ok if it was sent in its box from one store to another to be assembled by a tech in my local.

        • Hmm that's odd because they do/should do that (I used to work for T7 and we did it all the time).

Lots of reasons they may not have though, could be worth asking again as maybe it was just a particular model (already built and on a shop floor so would have to be packed up and sent, losing profit on it), or they didn't have anyone to build it at the time.

Bikes are a hard one though, because of the price of them, shops don't want to let other stores sell them because it eats into the stores commission and profit. Sometimes you just gotta get the right employee who will fight for you to get what's best, it's hit and miss.

          • @chunder: I understand. One of the bikes RRP is $4,500ish and comes down to $1,200 after the clearance price and singles discount on top. I'm sure that's already a loss plus freight and assembly. I completely understand why they wouldn't want the hassle to ship it when it'll simply sell in-store to the next customer that walks through the door. A shame, but that's just me being selfish. I am very selfish though haha.

        • I had to drive to rotorua to get the clearance bike i wanted. They were basically saying first in first serve and only available in store. Cant be sent to another branch.

  • +1

I live near stores but the discounts are for online only. Most of the bikes i wanted are in store only.
