The winner will need to be a Powershop customer by Friday 15 December 2023 to redeem the prize.

The winner will receive a total of $2184 Powershop credit. The $2184 will be credited to the winner’s Powershop account in 12 payments:

$141 per month in summer (January - February 2024, December 2024)
$179 per month in autumn (March - May 2024)
$238 per month in winter (June - August 2024)
$170 per month in spring (September - November 2024)

To enter the Kill Your Bill ‘Win a Year’s Free Power’ prize draw, you must:

  • be over 18 and a New Zealand resident;
  • be a natural person (ie not a business or other entity);
  • be someone who is not an existing Powershop customer;
  • upload a recent power bill to our bill upload webpage on our website. Only one entry per residential account (ICP).

  • Terms say you have to churn/sign up as a customer by 9am dec 15th or win is forfeited, guess they want it all sorted before christmas holidays etc. Worth keeping in mind if you are on contract and win you could have a large exit fee to your existing power company.

    • So we’re out of contract with Contact on their free power 2100-0000 plan and they advised our rates were going up from this month.

      Uploaded the latest ~$220 bill to Powershop and they’ve come back today to say their equivalent would have been ~$165.

      Sounds too good to be true. Seems you have to jump through some hoops to lock in cheaper rates each month so wondering how onerous that is.

      They also offered 1st weekend each month for 12 months with free power so wonder how much that would offset or compare to Contact
