Electric Bikes Recommendation

Hi Cheapies.

I have been looking at buying an electric bike recently, and I have come across Zurk Electric ebikes. Does anyone know if these are any good?

I am looking for a rather compact ebikes than a normal sized bikes with electric motor.

If there are any other brands you do recommend please let me know. My budget is $3000.00 max

Thank you!

  • How are those zurf anymore compact then a standard emtb? They just have smaller wheels which do nt roll over bumps as good as larger wheels. If it was folding frame then I would be impressed.
Those zurf have rear hub drive and battery on the rear rack so all the weight is on the back of the bike.
Go to a bike shop and try different models and brands out and check out difference between hub and mi drive motors.
But you ride it and like it and gets you out riding then any bike is a good bike for you.

  • Hey mate, bafang middrive kits installed to a mid tier frame mtb is best bang for buck in terms of performance per $$ spent.
Also happen to have one for sale for well below RRP and less than 400km on it if you check the classifieds ;)

Those bikes look very short and could be uncomfortable. I'd suggest a test ride of the bike on the route you will be doing.
If this is your 1st bike/ebike buy a cheap 2nd hand and see if the solution lives up to expectations.
We started with a $1500 2nd hand eBike, it was a winner, after a year got a flash new fast one $4500

  • What kind of riding do you want to do?

It only goes to 25km/hr (most will go to 32)
The seat looks uncomfortable for longer riding
    It weighs 29kg
    The range is only 30km

If you want to do any cycle trail kind of riding then look elsewhere, if you just want to cruise to the shops may be ok for your needs

  • This just popped up on Cheapies. Might be of interest. 30% off storewide.

I'm not an e-biker, but ride mountain bikes. I started with high spec secondhand bikes. For the same kind of money as a new lower spec bike you can get an amazing 2 year old bike. E-bikes might be a different story, but something to consider.

These Dragoon bikes are ridiculously overpriced even with 30% of RRP. Better off sticking with a mainstream brand for reliability and quality componentry. E-Bikes wear out chains and rear cassettes quicker than their non powered counterparts.
