Anyone got Office 365 deals?

Anyone know where I can get a cheaper Microsoft Office 365 family sub? I'm renewing again this December and it costs $179 which is too expensive. Browsing on ozbargain they have SaveOnIT at A$109 but maybe you know a local one that sells it cheaper?

  • eBay has quite a few cheap options. No idea if they are legit. I have a free subscription through work so can't verify that.

    • how did you a free subs? Is it a student/government/first responders thing?

        Educational organizations.

  • In the past I've used /r/MicrosoftSoftwareSwap on Reddit with no problems, but bear in mind you'll have no guaranteed way to resolve any issues if something goes wrong.

    • Yeah my sisters use this as well so I might want a good office 365 - just a bit cheaper

  • How high are your morals?

  • You might get it for free with you work or education account.

Depending on your licence type, you can download and install it on up to five PCs, five tablets, and five mobile devices as a personal benefit.

Sign into Microsoft 365 using your work account, then click on "Install apps".

Here's some instructions I found from Auckland Uni but it should be the same for corporate users: Download and Install Office 365

    • But you would likely have to use it on all your devices, with your staff account. You couldn't use it on a personal device, with a personal account that you might have for yourself through Hotmail / Outlook etc.

      • I don't understand.

You sign into the account using your work account for licensing, then use it for personal documents saved to the device.

    • To clarify, this is fine from a licensing perspective too

Users can install Microsoft 365 Apps on up to five different computers with a single Office 365 license. For example, a user can have Microsoft 365 Apps installed on a computer in the office, on a laptop to use when traveling, and on a home computer. Users can also install on up to five tablets and five phones.

my uni never changed my licensing. sssshhhhhhhhhh

  • be aware if you end up purchasing a license which is for a different region, it won't work at first on your existing account until you can change your account's billing region to match. When I last had to do this it was bloody confusing and hard to find good instructions on, so next time I'll stick to paying NZ prices. Normally on pricespy.co.nz I can find the cheapest option and just go with that.

  • Not a recommendation as YMMV however I renewed my last O365 Family Sub through https://www.cjs-cdkeys.com/. Cost about GBP45.00 which came in at a little over NZ$95 on my credit card. Activation was simple and quick.

  • It's a risk but I found an 'in-trade' seller on TradeMe selling a 1yr global key for ~117NZD which I deemed reputable enough, he's most likely reselling based on methods that others in the thread have posted, and of course you could use MAS to activate however you lose the OneDrive abilities and the 60 mins p/m Skype international calling (but I doubt many use that anyways).

    • Please do not use this!!! I got a cheap one from eBay a few years ago. Worked amazingly well for a while and then one sad day it stopped working. Lost all my one drive files. Seller was no where to be found.

      • 100% it is a risk when buying through non-official channels from resellers on eBay or TradeMe, but either I've gotten lucky or yourself unlucky.

It's pretty common on eBay to find MSDN/Azure for students keys or volume licensed keys being sold I think what happened in your situation is rare as I think you may have been sold a key which added you to a corporate or academic licensing account of Office and your subsequent account registered under that license had it's data then deleted from that by the license account's administrator. Although I'm not 100% familiar or an expert with MS licensing so take that with a grain of salt and granted I'm basing that off assumptions on your situation.

I don't think that's possible with 365 family and I think Microsoft gives a 30+ day warning when your account/data will be deleted in the case of license or account revocation.

Regardless sorry what happened to you and you can always get rug-pulled by private sellers.

  • If it's OneDrive that you want, you can use this:

I'm using it already. Got 5TB free.
