  • Thanks for the heads up, but agree, pretty average!

just got an email saying 4X Airpoints Dollars tomorrow in New World.

  • The Tegel Bites etc aren't too bad a price IMO. It's a bit hard to say since prices are still coming down from inflation and they also recently rejigged their range eliminating most of the Take Out stuff while simultaneously making these ones a similar weight to what Takeout used to be instead of the 1kg you used to get, but I've only seem then at that price at Pak'nSave one time in the past few months. Does depend on stock level and also for the Bites and Tenders you can get Pams at $9.99 per kg bag somewhat frequent provided you can find stock.

Whiskas pouches is an okay deal, Pak'nSave seems to have the 4 pack at $3 somewhat often so this isn't much better but is slightly.

Cucumber is also an okay price depending on what your local fruit and veggie prices are like and the sizes of New World's cucumbers. Still I'm assuming the price is likely to be more common in the coming months.

    • Decided the bites and cat food was worth it, went to Hobsonville Road fairly late maybe about an hour before closing. In one of the freezer they used for specials they had 2 burgers (I think) left and that was all for the Tegel deal. In the main fridge they had no more tenders or burgers. But they still had a lot of bites. Possibly the bites were less popular but I think the main thing was they hadn't properly marked the Bites. The only sign for the special was to the right where the tenders and burgers were, there was no sign over the bites although the sign did clearly say Tegel Free Range Tenders/Bites/Burger. Further they hadn't even adjusted the electronic pricing sign it still had the $15.49 price! (It was $8.99 as confirmed by their website and my purchase.)

The worst one day sale so far

  • Supposedly they're adding more items to the sale tomorrow but we'll see

  • I really start disliking NW. It always feels overpriced and just a decent/nice bakery or butcher selection doesn't make up for this. If I want fancy bread I go to a bakery and for a nice cut of meat I can find plenty of butchers.

I find the grocery selection better at CD/WW and they have pretty decent specials lately. This in combination with Pak'nSave makes the NW uninteresting for me (and now they can't even reel me in with the 1 day sale).

I have a Countdown, New World and Pacnsave all within 5 minutes
I find Countdown very expensive for the products and brands we buy, and usually out of stock - usually NW have it on sale for a couple of dollars less
Pacnsave I only go if desperate, its normally 20c cheaper than New World per product on sale, but the crowds are stressful.

      • Same,
The PAK’nSAVE closest to me is extremely busy at all times and their produce section isn’t the best.
Countdown Meadowbank is scarily quiet everytime I go there and i find it has a wider array of products compared to New World and Paknsave, although I go to New World which is closer to me but its a much smaller store and can get busy during the weekends.

I see countdown is now also doing a “one day sale” tomorrow

  • Ha, earlier I commented that they had improved the deals, as the deal page was listing some good prices: ( - $0.99 kilo apples, $4.49 butter and $4.49 whittakers …)

But they were never showing up in my online shop, and new world have eventually replied to my question and responded saying it was a mistake and the deals are reverted. Ah well.

    • Whanganui new world has rascal and friends nappies (box of 72) for $27.99 but online is showing $35.99, i queried this as instore has no stock and they have said online hasn’t been updated correctly. I have been able to pre purchase and they are going to contact me once stock arrives

  • Does anyone know if I purchase an online order now, with click and collect tomorrow - Will I be charged the special/s price today?

    • You lock in the pricing when you make your order so yes, you'll get the specials pricing.
