Mens Merino Long Johns and Base Layer Top

Tis the end of the Winter season so I thought it'd be a good opportunity to pick up some Merino wear on special. Heard Ice Breaker was a good brand but their items are going for $150 a pop at torpedo seven..!! Has anyone seen these go on clearance? Happy for any suggestions on different brands/ideas etc., thanks!

Some discussion on merino thermals in the comments section https://www.cheapies.nz/node/34475

This online store has some good prices. Hard part is finding something you like the look of in your size

Definitely recommend trying them on yourself as I find the mix (80%+ Merino + Synthetic) material less itchy for my upper body.
I got a couple of sets for snowboarding.
I personally prefer IceBreaker and Mons Royale.
Icebreaker online store goes on 50% sale couple of times a year.
Mons Royale normally only drop down to 30-40%. Seen them close to 50% at Torpedo 7 but rarely.
Find out the weight you are after. I got my Icebreaker in 200 weight BodyFitZone from Bivouac Outdoor at 50% off.
My partner got Mons Royale Cascade from Torpedo 7.

In my experience, Merino is quite stretchy so a size smaller can often still fit pretty good. Something to be aware of if you find something you like but isn't your normal size.

  • Mint suggestions & feedback - cheers all. Copped myself some merino leggings from https://www.outdoorsman.co.nz/ … what a steal! Still on the hunt for some merino top base layers. Bit tricky getting the right size at the right price

100% merino just gets holes if lightweight so get mix if going lightweight fabrics
