Keep an eye out for Bunnings price beating/matching on similar items (though I prefer Mitre10 for NZ-owned and using those sweet AMEX airpoints).

Bunnings is 10x better.
Bunnings also pay a living wage, just like Countdown. That’s one good thing to come out of the Australian companies, while Mitre 10 and Foodstuffs leave it up to their individual franchise owners to screw their staff as much as possible.
100%. I tried to price-match something at Mitre10 Westgate, the franchise owner was nearby - overruled the customer service person and said they wouldn't because Bunnings was only a cent cheaper. I took my business to Bunnings.
I also find Bunnings is far better to price-match, return, and get things fixed. I have not once had an issue with returns or warranty in the 20 years I've shopped there. In fact I returned a Dyson vac 4 years after purchase, and their main concern was they weren't able to give me another one if I wanted it (refunded me).
I'd be threatening to take them to Commerce Commision for that. 1c cheaper somewhere else for an identical product means they have to discount by 15%, otherwise it's false advertising.
Sometimes easier to just take spending elsewhere - haven't been back since
Ive had westgate say no to price beat multiple times. The time i have, theyve made me feel like im robbing them. Lincoln Road seem to be more prepared to comply.
i was stoked when i heard bunnings was opening in westgate because you couldn't price match at m10 westgate as their competitors 'weren't in the area'.
the number of times m10 has tried blocking competitors opening up in their neighbourhood though…

I get the NZ owned bit OP but the customer service is way better at Bunnings.

I wish Mitre10 was less of a $2shop-briscoes-warehouse-DIY everything store and stuck to its knitting like Bunnings does. Because I agree - I prefer that its NZ owed - but im 10000% a Bunnings man.
