Another Laptop RAM Query

SO I have a laptop which is an HP EliteBook 850 G8 Notebook and the RAM specs give me DDR4-PC4 SODIMM 3200 MT/s

It's currently running 16GB RAM and I want to upgrade it to 32, so obviously need another 16GB RAM chip, which I think I've confirmed the specs of the machine, it has 2 RAM slots, and it's currently only using 1 slot with a 16GB chip in.

So I'd like to ask the Cheapies hive mind, what's the best value 16GB RAM chip that's available? Not in a great hurry so I can order from overseas if it's cheaper, but have found these options from PB Tech

Thanks in advance :)

  • I'd personally try keep the brand and chip same brand, some memory can have incompability but overall Imo all the same these days.

You may want to keep timings the same as well as speed

    • This. My suggestion, could be wrong though. In case you don't find the same model, get 2x16gb ones in a pair and sell the current one.

      • I wouldn't say your suggestion is wrong. But it certainly is very cautious. I've upgraded many devices with mismatched brand RAM and never had an issue. I just upgraded my work laptop two weeks ago that had 16GB DDR5 Samsung 4800 with additional 16GB DDR5 Crucial 4800.

  • You'll notice no difference between any of them.
