Bench Top Water Filter Dispenser recommendations

Been having a look around and wondering if anyone has tried the 8 stage bench top water filter Dispensers?

Reviews, recommendations, best place to buy?

Been buying water weekly. As tap water makes me sick.

We use a Brita "On tap" Filter. Can switch between filtered water or non filtered.

i'd recommend a dual filter tap filter that sits on the kitchen counter (near your tap). Looks much nicer than big counter top units imo

bought one from AU for about $350 and works perfect.

Agree with this. Bought one to go with my kitchen reno, best decision ever although very very expensive. Just saw this version which looks similar to what I bought. Cheaper than what I paid at its RRP and that much cheaper again because of the sale.

      3 way kitchen mixer.
      RRP: $379.00
      Sale price: $169.00
      Shipping: $12.99

      • What would go with for filtration systems

I've got one of these, keep it in the fridge for cold water on tap, I'm happy with my tap water as well though and drink from the tap often so can't really comment on it's filtering ability.

    • Yes i have one of these also. But doesnt seem to filter enough. Can still taste chemical taste, and i still get my symptoms drinking.

Do you know what the problem is with the water? Different issues can require different solutions.

    • Town water. Taste like pool water lol.

  • I have used a water distiller for years rather than using filters. Many fridges now have in built water and filter its.

    • Distiller. I hadnt thought of one of them. Thanks.

The sediment left in the bottom is quite scary. but they aren't the cheapest option and use quite a bit of power. But over the long term it should be a lot cheaper than bottled water.

Beware Water Distillers!! MY Dentist has just done some major work in my mouth as I have been drinking distilled water for about 5 years and because it takes all the chemicals and metals out of the water(including fluoride), it does NOT protect your mouth/teeth! Be warned.

        • Were you using toothpaste with fluoride? Also was that the only thing you were drinking? I only use distilled water when drinking straight water and only drink about a glass a day, but all other drinks such as tea and coffee and cooking I use tap water or fridge filtered water. My towns water isn't fluoridated but you can get fluoride tablets.

Those $30-50 jugs are fine for removing chlorine, especially if you're just using it for drinking.

But I expect that you'd be much better off getting the three stage under bench one TradeDepot has for $99 (or any of the various around $200 ones elsewhere) in terms of ongoing cost. Filters tend to cost near what the filter did, and a under bench (or whole house) one will last 6mths or so.

    • IMO they mainly improve the taste. But the one built into my fridge does the same thing.

      • Removing the taste is the point.

Your fridge one won't be rated for much volume, and will need to be replaced a lot more often than an underbench or likely even a jug one (and probably isn't .5 microns or under, so will be leaving a lot of free chlorine behind).

It pays to look. Some of the filters mentioned here (and in stores) are 1 micron plus. Will help, but not as much.

        • We didn't replace carbon the one under our sink for at least 10 years and didn't taste any different to after we had it replaced . the filter when I took it apart still looks clean as well. I think the one in our fridge is at least 3 years old and still seems fine, can't taste any chlorine etc

  • You can get this, we used to use it when renting, now has a under bench system.

    • That one is a 1 micron filter. You need a .5 to effectively remove most of the chlorine (most, the only way it's all going is by reverse osmosis, distilling, or just leaving it sitting out long enough)

      • The $99 3 stage filter you recommended from tradedepot is 5 Micron

  • I've got one of the puretec inline water filters. It just plugs in between the cold water outlet and the tap so all cold water is filtered. It's been working amazingly for the last year.
