Karcher Window Vac

Hi Team,

What is everyone's thoughts on the Karcher Window Vac's. Are they worth buying or a useless gadget? Do the higher end models offer increased value?

While i am not sure if its a good deal, currently Supercheap has the WV2 Plus model at 25% off ($120). Mitre10 also happen to stock this model, meaning it could be had via a price beat for $102. Like i said i don't know if this price is any good though.

I have that model, only used in winter to suck those condensation on the window in the morning. Saves me time rather than getting rag and wriggling it to rid of the water and repeat.

I guess it depends on what you intend to use it. Had tried it for cleaning glass in general, quicker to get old newspaper lol.
Bought it years ago for $80-ish? Can't remember but that was at mitre10 with 15% price beat from somewhere.

I got the higher end WV6 model as it has a bigger water collection container of 150ml. I fill this completely most mornings just doing the 3 section ranch slider in my bedroom. They do a great job to be honest, I would highly recommend.

It was cheaper recently at Briscoes

I have WV2 for couple of years and happy with it. Use it in bathroom & mirrors as well sometimes along with cars.

  • We just open the windows for a while, and the condensation evaporates by itself, even when cold and / or wet outside, plus reduces the humidity in the room which was the root cause of the condensation, which just wiping it up doesn't really help with.

Even if you use one of those gadgets, you really need to open the windows and air out still.

  • I have probably the smaller original one. I can fill the tank doing two small rooms on a winter morning. So if you think that extra 30 seconds to go and empty it between rooms would annoy you I'd go the bigger tank. I do use it for general window cleaning as well. Didn't think of car! Back when I had a good car (pre kids) I think that would have been good.

  • I have the WV2 which works well and much improved over older models (in case you look at second hand)

  • Oh forgot to mention this use case if you have hard floor. Very useful to clean accidental spills like water/juice from the floor. Yesterday my kiddo by mistake dropped full glass of milk and this sucker came to the rescue.

  • I use. A 3$ Japan Mart plastic thing with inbuilt container it's nice and light weight and easy to use , i use dimplex dehumidifier and find it very good hardly have any condensation if I use it

  • Sorry, but why does everyone think that the primary use of window vac is for sucking condensation? That is not even what the device is made for. Primarily it's great for cleaning glass like windows & sliders. Apart from that there are many other uses.

Because New Zealand has some damp ass houses.

  • Yes, it's worth it. Consider it a wet vac rather than a window vac and it will feel more useful. It's great for cleaning up spills

  • Been using one for a while.

Downsides: the odd cat hair makes it leave streaks.
I would prefer a silicon blade vs rubber.
Sometimes it can be an akward angle to get right to the bottom of full height glass windows.
It doesnt suck well going horizontal. Just make sure to also vaccum the sill.

    Pros: sucks up liquid well.
    Does the job fast.
Batteries last a long time between charges.
Battery still going well after 4 years.
If you use it on dirty windows you will leave streaks. I end up having to cloth a window after using it for cleaning windows. Now i only use for condensation.

If you have the money, and have condensation on your windows, worth getting
