Difference between the "deals" and landing pages?

Can someone explain this? What's the difference between the two in terms of what they show? Some postings display on both the home/landing page and "Deals" page, and some only show on one or the other.

I'd be great to just have a single page that shows everything so I don't have to check both to figure out which deals are omitted per page, or an explanation for what is/isn't included on each.

  • https://www.cheapies.nz/deals shows every deal sorted by most recent just as https://www.cheapies.nz/competition/all does the same for competitions.

https://www.cheapies.nz/ and https://www.cheapies.nz/competition shows posts that I'm guessing have received a certain number of upvotes/comments/clicks or are about to start/expire.

  • I always use (https://www.cheapies.nz/deals) and, as far as I know, I get to see everything… but then you never know what you are missing of course!

    • yea, thats my default

  • +2

I always use the /deals page as well. I don't want to wait for a post to get a certain number of upvotes before it appears on the main page as it might expire or sell out within that short timespan.

  • Due to the low volume of deals posted on Cheapies it can seem that there's no difference, but the Deals Page shows every deal in true chronological order (in order of them being posted) without any front page algorithms

The front page of cheapies is the hot deals, where only deals above a certain vote threshold will appear. You can switch between 3 types of views by clicking on the … button.

You can customize how you want the front page to behave, by tweaking the settings here. You can also customize the new deals page and also filter out the extremely bad deals too (by default the threshold is -2 votes)
