NZPost Parcel Rates Going Up 1 July

NZPost rates will go up from 1 July. I guess we might start seeing higher delivery charges for from businesses too.

No official announcement from NZPost but Trademe recently made an announcement here https://www.trademe.co.nz/c/community/news/book-a-courier-nz…
Postage in bags are going up ~$1 each.
Small boxes are going up ~$0.67 ($9.50 to $10.17) for within island or a whopping $5.65 ($11.99 to $17.64) between island.
Rural surcharge will go up from $4.30 to $5.50. Now no difference from at post counter where they're currently $4.80 going up to $5.50.

Also saw this thread in the Trademe community which shows at the counter costs.

It looks like they might get rid of prepaid bags and move to bags + postage so the price changes for the equivalent prepaid bags are going up from
-$5.20 to $5.80 for xs bags
-$6.40 to $7 for s bags
-$8.20 to $9 for m bags
-$9.40 to $10 for l bags
-$10.40 $13.40 to $15 xl bags.

For a small box it'll cost $12, up from $11.20, for within the same island, or a crazy $22, up from $17, for between islands.

those XL bags have been $13.40 for the past year

    • Oops. I mistook the large bubble for the XL.

  • And today got a notification for the simplification:

From July, we’re making sending easier, with one bag range for all your sending needs, whether sending within NZ or Overseas.

When sending within NZ, we’ve removed the service pricing from our bags to ensure that you are choosing the best service for your parcel. Information on our services and pricing is now >displayed in our stores on the wall alongside the bags, or online to help you choose.

Our instore teams are always happy to answer any queries you may have too.

Here’s a few things we think you might want to know.

Can I still use the old NZ Post bags if I have them at home?
Yes. Bags purchased before July 2023 can still be used to send parcels.

Can I still buy multiple bags at a time to take away and use later?
Yes. You can purchase your bags and your service tickets (Courier or Economy) at the counter or online to use later. Additional services can be also added later in our full-service stores.

What bags do I use for sending overseas?
The new bags can be used when sending within NZ and Overseas. When instore, please continue to ask at the counter for service options and pricing when sending overseas or click here.

  • I have a bunch of courierpost bags from before the rebrand, are they still valid to send these days?

    • Yep, all good. Worth their weight in gold :)

  • If you're a cheapie like me don't buy bags just open the ones you get (from your cheapie deals) carefully to reuse them and peel off the old label or black it out and stick the new one ontop.

Never had any issues doing that.

  • Shipping prices are crazy between islands, i feel sorry for the regions,
I just noticed the change in prices sending to the south island.
At this rate many of the small items i send will be uneconomical.
Sending a small box with fastway is 27$ as apposed to $22 with nzpost.
