Scholarships and on the side mahi

Kia ora Cheapies Whanau and Morena,

Just wanting to know if anyone knows good sources for Scholarships. Im studying Health and Wellbeing at the moment and next year I will be moving on to studying Nursing. Things ain't cheap these days so thought id check out my options before going with the student loan and paying it off. (Also student loans will affect my home loan approval amount goal).

Whats your guys on the side mahi recommendations?. If I keep waking up at 3am I can crack 30 hours spare a week to get a side hustle going but don't know where to start. I have a computer, creative skills and am pretty keen to just mahi hard. Bare in mind I do have a toddler so I cant pick up extra shifts at my mahi that I'm currently doing.

Nga Mihi.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you studying? Because a lot of tertiary institutions push out quite a few uni/polytech specific scholarships. There might even be some specific to your field of study. Also, if you're Māori, could look into iwi grants/scholarships.

  • Toi Ohomai Mokoia. I live in Tauranga but the days of study on the Campus work better for my mahi. Toi Ohomai only have 3 Scholarships available at the moment and im not eligible for these. Hey actually thats not a bad idea I know one of my iwis may do it

My experience is that there is likely someone at your place of study who looks after / keeps a track of all such things - maybe contact their main help centre, and ask them?

You could also look at the websites of other places (say, Auckland Uni) as many scholarships might be available across multiple locations.

  • Thank you!. I never thought of calling ill ask them now.
