  • Would suggest checking the "Band Steering" setting and if 5GHZ is turned on: https://help.sky.co.nz/s/article/Changing-Router-Settings

I would suggest UNtick Band Steering. ON a dual band router this will enable you to show the two bands individually. I personally find this better as then you KNOW which band you are connected to.

    • i turned this off 2 sky wifi show up one has 2.4ghz at the end so i connected to the other one it should be 5ghz but does not say it is
but when i do i still get connection lost

  • I've often wondered this, which is better? Better for different devices or places in the house?

    • 5GHz is faster but covers a shorter range (ie you need to be close to the router).
2.4GHz is slower but connection goes over a greater distance.

      • Less so range in the classic sense, but more prone to losing strength through objects like walls and such.

I would rather have one combined 2.4 n 5ghz network and a separate guest network. That way you can decide which devices should be on specific network. Combined one will have benefits of range and speed depending on the distance. Most of the iot devices are 2.4ghz so having a guest network for them makes sense.
