Dyson V7 for $399 ($389 with PowerPass) @ Bunnings Worth It?

Any thoughts / feedback about V7 performance suction & battery life & price

I see at rtings that battery life is poor (10-30mins) and charging takes 3 hours

But apparently you can get a makita battery adapter and pretty much double battery life say with a 5ah and fast charge with one of these from aliexpress

Also keen to hear from anyone’s got this setup

Cheers

That’s fairly consistent battery life for the handheld dysons. Inevitably it’ll die when you have the last room to go. They work really well (IMO).
The makita/dewalt adaptors work really well.

Ours lasts at least thirty mins, but that is plenty.

We don't worry about having to do the whole house in one go, as it is so convenient to grab and do a bit. Often I'll put the kettle on, and vacuum a room while it is boiling, then do another room next time I make a cuppa, rather than standing there staring at the kettle or reading c**p on my phone.

We have one, battery is about right but it's not a big deal because you should have it always on the charger.

We still had to crank out the proper vacuum every now and then

  • Thanks all. Bought it

Put a reminder in your phone for 2 years time, there is a 2 year battery guarantee so make sure by that time you've let them know your battery isn't holding charge and they will send you a free spare.

      • Does this apply to any Dyson vacuum cleaner? Do we contact the retailer where we bought it from (e.g. Noel learning) or do we contact Dyson directly?

        • +1

Got my last direct through Dyson. I just find that easier than the mess around of going through a retailer.

I went to Dyson directly too

          • @Baagin: Thanks. Do we have to proof that the battery is not charging? Or can we just ask for one to be sent?

@Juju123: I just let them know it wasn't holding its charge, contacted via their website.

        • +1

We went direct to Dyson too.

You can go through either but I'd reccommend just going through dyson directly.

  • How long should the charge last?

Our vacuum is under 2 years - bought it August 2021

6-30 minutes depending on mode and accessories

They don't ask for your old battery back, so get the new one free while you can.

      • 6? I've never had a cordless so had no idea people were dealing with that sort of battery life. I guess it wouldn't be noticeable for smaller places, but damn, that sort of life seems so impractical

        • Our current battery is maybe three years old, and it last far longer than six minutes, probably even on boost (which you would not normally use anyway) although I don't run it permanently on that setting.

Currently lasts about thirty mins on the middle setting (can't recall what they are called - maybe 'low', 'high', and 'boost').

If the battery was lasting less than ten mins on 'high' (or whatever it is called) I'd be replacing it.

We only use 'boost' for a few seconds occasionally if something won't lift on 'high'. I don't think I ever use 'low' :-)
