Insurances - Contents & Third Party, Fire and Theft

Currently looking for contents insurance and third party, fire and theft before premiums undoubtedly sky rocket due to the recent cyclone.

Anyone know of any good deals (i.e. discount codes), can recommend good insurers for a good price, or know when the best time to buy is for example when Flybuys do lots of bonus points for signing up to insurers?

Any help appreciated :)

  • I know its not helpful in terms of promotional pricing, but have a look at the consumer.org.nz Reviews Thread

Theres a bit of standard pricing there, as well as information about excess, satisfaction, financial strength etc. Good starting point

    • Thank you! Are you able to please do the comparison for 23 y/o male, Chch for Third Party, Fire and Theft car insurance and also Contents only for Christchurch please? That would be a great help :)

      • Here you go

Posted in the main thread in case anyone else wanted it in the future.

Just a note that consumer only did comprehensive car insurance

  • FWIW - I have to say I've been thoroughly happy with Tower the past few years. Competitive prices, excellent cover, and when it came time to claim recently they made the process very easy and the assessor was very fair and reasonable. Can't ask much more from an insurance company.

  • Avoid IAG they are so terrible

  • I used to like AMI and their prices and did so for years - however after reviewing my policies and getting quotes from all the usual suspects in NZ, Tower came out on top!

  • I recently moved to Initio after getting many quotes and found this cheapest for home & car. Only issue is you need to have home insurance to get a car, so might not be for all but worth a try if you have home insurance. Found them easy to deal with initially. Also, have heard good things from few friends.

  • Aon are good but not the most competitively priced for car. If you can afford to pay annual premiums upfront then that's a good way to protect yourself against price increases for the year… until you renew of course
