Bulk Buying “Vet Diet” Cat Biscuits?

Our local cattery does an absolute solid selling 10kg bags of Royal Cannin Fit and Oral for a little over a hundred bucks a pop.

However, one of our cats needs a strictly renal diet formula and with three cats in the house we will need to move them all over to this to ensure he can’t be a picky bastard (vet has no issues with all three going renal)

The renal biscuits are part of the vet diet range though and therefore our cattery can’t get them in.

Retail prices are crazy and generally only for smaller couple KG bags so keen to know if there are any suppliers out there who may sell vet range biscuits in bulk. Buying 2kg’s a time with three mouths to feed seems a bit nuts.

Cheers

  • Interested in this also! At the moment the best I can do is wait for any of the online retailers to have a 25% or better sale and then buy a few of the 4kg bags at a time. At least with them being so expensive they always qualify for free shipping 😅
*Except the vet diet food doesn't go on sale nearly as often as the regular food

  • We get 3.5kg (about $50 - $60 I think) or 7kg bags (presumably around $110) from somewhere.

Might - not sure - be pet.co.nz or somewhere like that.

I will dig it out and post back if you can't find it on that site.

  • +1

We've used pet.co.nz lots for the Hill's Prescription Diet C/D biscuits and meat our dog has been put on. Whack it on autoship and you get a discount, this made it cheaper than anywhere else. You can change the autoship dates as you please, I have one set to every 26 weeks and either bring it forward, or push it out as required.
Check all the online pet sites, probably not all will have the item you need, some have different sized bags, check for autoship discounts.

  • sureflap microchip feeder for each cat and then you can control who gets what is another option a little pricey initially though for three cats.

  • I have used Willowbark https://www.willowbark.co.nz/ for prescription meds for my dog, they were heaps cheaper than the vet , Needed to get a prescription from the vet for them to dispense, from memory they were around $130 at the vet to $70 at Willowbark. They do sell food as well as other supplies but I have not used them for that- definitely worth a look. Nice guy to deal with too.

  • So an update on this, after cross checking prices across 12 different online and brick and mortar places "Online Vet Shop" came out the winner on wet and dry food, with or without the autoship option turned on. They would also win on Bravecto flea and worm at the autoship price.

Dry food is $5.74 less than the closest competitors - pet.co.nz, animates and pet direct - for the 2kg size the product comes in.

However, the wet food and Bravecto is out of stock. I'll keep checking to see how long it takes the status to change.

Next best offering was pet.co.nz for the wet food at 50c more per pouch and my usual go to fave Jen's Pet Supplies (see one of my previous deal posts) for the Bravecto at $3.52 more.

All prices factor autoship / regular feeder, where available
