  • Seems to be that price in most PnS, just different names for searching in grocer.nz:

    NZ Beef Rump Piece
    Beef Rump In Piece
    BEEF RUMP WHOLE VAC PAC
    NZ Whole Beef Rump

  • Got a couple yesterday in Mt Albert, rump sliced was $15.99 - haven't seen this cheap in over a year?

Lamb leg was also $10.49 but sold out. Turns out New World was selling for the same price.

Time to refill the chest freezer alright. (although it was painful to slice 2 bags of rump and vacuum pack everything).

    • my two cents on whole rump (if vacuum packed) is leave them in the fridge for min of 30 days and then get them sliced. The quality of the meat is 10x better and almost as good as the exported stuff we don't get. People assume it will go off but not the case if it's a whole rump!

30 days? I did not know! I will consider it for the next time (might end up getting another one since we have space and pfffttt it's dirt cheap!)

As a bit of a tip, if you cook with a lot of Beef mince, these whole rumps can be really great to mince and far cheaper and better quality than what the supermarket sells. I recently had a whole rump minced with a whole Striploin and another whole rump butchered into roasts and steaks for $5 from my local butcher
