  • Just asked about this in the other thread ;) may do the Extra annual sub. Anyone else?

    • What is the benefit of buying 3 years worth upfront like some of those comments suggest? Is it because the % discount is reducing year on year and the cost of annual sub is increasing each year? So it is rerisking that but by spending more upfront.

      • I guess to lock in the current price. It's possible the subs will go up.

In saying that, I'm on PS+ SG (seems to be the cheapest region who always has English versions of games, though I haven't compared in a while) and I've never paid full price renewing yearly in prob 5 years. I've always got either 25% off or 3months extra free (I think I had to wait a few weeks once).

  • I already have essential so was waiting to see if there was a Black Friday deal to upgrade, but it only seems to give me the option to upgrade for the remainder of my current subscription which ends in March, so only about 4 months rather than being able to get the upgrade for the full 12 months. If I do that, will it then let me buy another 12 months on top of that?

      Yes I believe so.
      It says

Hungry for more? You can stack up as many 12 month plans as you need and extend the savings even further.

Can't stack different types though, so to upgrade you they make you upgrade your current sub (at the pro-rata'd rate), then extend it again.

        • Thanks for the replies.

      • Per my query to Wakrak above, what is the benefit of stacking multiple 12 months when I can buy 12 months and then wait for the next BF sale and do the same again? Is it to protect against future BF discount reduction or annual sub increases?

        • I would say that's exactly it.
If they do the identical discount every year and the sub price doesn't change then no benefit.
However, as you mentioned you are hedging against future price increases or less than 25% reductions going forward.

Anyone cheapies here running a turkey PSN account?

    • Yep. Works well

      • What's the cost work out as? And are the free games the same?

      • Care to provide details on how this works? I read elsewhere that it ends up being region locked.

      • Care to share how you do it? Not sure about now but heard before turkish PSN don't have gift card available so have to use credit card and they don't take nz credit card?

      • +1

I just followed the steps on https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/709692

Worked out to about $40 nzd for the highest tier per year

        • So does this still work for Turkish VPN and NZ Wise? The Ozbargain comments as of this month seems mixed…

          • @L3tstaxth1s: Yes it does but payment only works when done via the console.

            • @Dago: Do you know whether the Extra game catalogues between NZ and Turkey are different?

              • @L3tstaxth1s: Not sure, i bought it for my son who's in Oz. I don't think it would be much different though. I know that some games a lot cheaper on the turkish store though. Think God of War Ragnorok was like $50 AU equivalent on there at launch.

    • Game catalogue does not look as comprehensive (no GOTG or Avengers but they do have RDR2 still)?

  • Decided to go for this one. I keep telling myself I will renew monthly ($13.95) and cancel on the months I’m not planning to use it, and it never happens. May as well save some money over the longer run. Around $100 savings.
