[PC] Humble Choice 1 Year Subscription $146 (Usually $189, 22.75% Discount) @ Humble Bundle (New/Cancelled/Returning Users Only)

70
HOLIDAY22

First deal post, forgive any errors!

Humble Bundle's doing a deal for their annual plans at a reasonable discount. Regular yearly memberships are $189, or a standard monthly membership is $17.95 a month, totaling $215.40 annually (though this does come with the perk of pausing months, either if you don't want the games or potentially receiving discounts as incentives to un-pause - YMMV) so $146 is a pretty good deal if you're wanting to commit to a year.

Although this is intended to function as a new & returning cancelled user promotion only, you can purchase this as a gift and then use the link on your own existing account, adding twelve months to your current subscription. See the Reddit discussion here

Interesting to note that the NZ market standard annual subscription is lower (USD$129 = NZD$210 right now, while our regular cost is $189) but our discount is less as it brings the cost down to the USD$89 equivalent. (US 31% discount vs NZ 22.75% discount)

Also putting a week for this promo as I have no idea when they end - there's no mention of the duration of this discount on their website, Twitter or Facebook.

    What is Humble Choice?

Humble Choice is Humble's gaming subscription service that gives members a new selection of games every month that they can download and keep forever.

Here's how it works: Every month you choose which games you want to claim from the available selection. Humble then gives you a redemption key for each that you can input into the necessary game launcher, like Steam, Epic Games, or Origin. The game is yours to keep, even if you choose to end your Humble Choice subscription.

In addition to this main benefit, Choice membership grants you a handful of other sweet perks, like shopping discounts and access to the Humble Games Collection where you can play even more games as long as you remain a member.

And also the mumbleth iteration of Humble Bundle's subscription model, previous iterations of which got you to pay the monthly fee before seeing the games but they were typically valued well above your individual input, and for a time a selection of 10-12 games of which you were able to choose (thus the Choice moniker) a certain amount depending on your subscription tier.

It still does feel like one of the best patient gaming deals, a lot of good games have been released through this and best of all it helps greatly with achieving the goal of the greatest game of all: collecting more and more games that you'll never play.

  • FWIW, this ends 2 December (this is probably US time so it'll be 3 here I expect). Also as with previous years, although it's technically new, cancelled and returning users only, you're allowed to buy a gift with the code and redeem it on your own account. See their FAQ which explicitly mentions you can redeem gifts on your own account https://support.humblebundle.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036684… . While it doesn't deal with promo, it's also what support have always said and besides if you're using one account to do it and Humble let you, it's hard for them to claim you're doing something you're not supposed to.

While I haven't done it myself this year, there are some reports of success here. https://www.reddit.com/r/humblebundles/comments/ytgn9a/humbl… Some odd reports of problems too which is confusing since there doesn't seem to be any clear trend e.g. some people had problems when they are on classic some people did not and date wise it doesn't seem that there were problems they fixed. Note it will only work for Classic or the all games plans. I think Humble may have gotten rid of the more limited options with only 3 games or whatever but if by some chance you're still on one of them (why???), it definitely won't work as the credits are not compatible.

If it works for you, gifting is likely safer than using a different account as that can be seen as abusive. (Not so much the new part but to discourage key resellers, I think you're only supposed to have one per person.) Definitely do not try referring yourself, Humble has been known to crack down on that. If you would use two accounts to get around the limit if needed then it still makes sense to try gifting IMO since you can always redeem the gift on your second account instead, I fairly doubt it will make a difference as to whether Humble detects what you're doing or thinks it's abusive. If you are willing to try the gift idea but not two account then sorry not sure what you can do if gifting doesn't work. Note if you're not on classic or don't care if you lose classic, gifting is probably fairly safe since worst case, there doesn't seem to be any question you can redeem if you cancel. So when your current subscription runs out, just cancel and redeem the gift then.
