Do old Apple products go on sale?

I was under the impression that once the new model of anything Apple comes out, the previous year's models is just no longer in stock anymore?

I'm looking at an Apple Watch SE, but the new 2022 SE models coming out don't have an actual "black" colour that I want. The older model does.
Will places like JB and PB put the old ones on sale, or do they send them back to Apple or something?

Sometimes the refurbished section is a good place to buy https://www.apple.com/nz/shop/refurbished

  • There's a price rise in nz this year on the non-se watch so I wouldnt expect any discount there.

As for SE, probably not. Retailers would have probably sent out final stock by now expecting to sell through before the new SE.

Its super unusual to get cheaper stuff from apple in new zealand as a retailer afaik

  • I got mine s7 41mm @528.99 from NL(price matched with pb tech) last month. Yes, the answer is they do sale.

  • Sometimes usually thru a margin break thru retailers but this is at least 3 months after the release of the new product if it is being discontinued

    • I will keep an eye out. Thank you :)
Any particular retailers you have in mind?
Just the usual JB, PB, Noel Leeming?

      • All of them but some retailers get exclusives just keep an eye out
