Looking for Standalone Internet Radio Recommendations

I'd like to buy an internet radio but reading various 'best of' lists often leads to models that aren't sold/available here. Can anyone recommend something good that's easily available in NZ please?

I bought my folks one through Amazon and had it shipped here easy enough. You just need to ensure that it doesn't run on mains power 110v (cord hard wired in). My folks one had a DC adapter which we use with a travel plug, some of the others user USB. Their one is great for a kitchen, but it's no longer sold. If you're unsure I would recommend watching an 'unboxing' video on YouTube and see if it has an adaptor (fine) or hardwired (bad). You do run the risk of it being hard to return

    • Thanks I had a look through the ones on Amazon, do you remember which on you bought your parents?

I got my parents a google nest mini, works fine if that's an option?

Or maybe the Google nest hub, on sale at $99 less $5 on Market club

We use a Xiaomi smart speaker for most of ours now. It's basically a Google/nest home sized speaker and works exactly the same as one. Can just barm orders at it to play a radio station or cast to it from a phone if you'd prefer.

I do like the look of the JBL portable as well. Again the same thing but that lives in a pad and can be picked up from it's charging pad and moved around the house or taken outside.

  • Thanks all for your advice, I think I'll look at getting the a Roberts Stream radio from Amazon UK.
