Donate it to a charity of your choice

Good idea. Donating it makes your money go further. Gets you $33 back in tax refund for you to donate again etc..

      • Which gets you back $10.89 or you to donate again etc …

For those that may follow, note the extra …

        • Which gets you back $3.59 or you to donate again etc ….

For those that may follow, note the extra ….

          • @Tmurder91: then you get back $1.19 back.. eventually gets you $49.58 extra if you try to try to donate the original $100 and all the tax credit.

There are some charities that also invest money half of the donated money to make them go further.. (perhaps estimated 24% further over 5 years), without charging any fees.

            e.g.
            https://milfordfoundation.co.nz/

          • @Tmurder91: You can only claim tax credits back for donations of $5 or more, so you'd have to supplement the donation with additional money to continue claiming

      • Not if you do it through a retailer who has a donation feature in their checkout. Then they get to claim back your tax refund and make money!

        • Now now - they are doing good. Just ask them!

  • 555x Boxes of Hersheys Kissses from The Warehouse (yes that is 65kg worth of chocolate)

  • Really? You have to spend it? Is it a voucher, or cash burning a hole in your wallet? I mean, I know this is Cheapies, but the best deal is the one where you spent nothing and save a ton instead of buying stuff you don't need. Invest or donate if you really can't decide. Or be the generous one who pays for the old lady's groceries in front of you. Or go on a date.

    • I'd rather live the moment than save it to a day I can't spend it

      • So what are ya going to spend your random $100 on

        • Either PlayStation Plus, fizzy drinks, Maccas, a fruit tree, antiques, or Bet it all on the rugby game. Its another problem choosing from all the options.

          • @Viper: You could post a vote here, and let a bunch of random strangers who think they know better decide for you (the socialist approach albeit without the coercion).

Alternatively, pick whichever maximises utility from your perspective (the liberal approach).

            • @Alan6984: I reckon list a couple of bet options for Ireland vs. All Blacks at TAB and see which one gets upvoted the most by Cheapies.

              • @Wakrak: I like it - that way we'd know that to avoid ;-)

            • @Alan6984: I like the voting approach sounds more fun

@Viper: Are you sure you're old enough to bet?

I'd spend it on coke & hookers, but that's only because I enjoy fizzy drinks and rugby scrums.

    • There was me thinking you were buying heating fuel, and things to hang your curtains.

      How silly of me :-)

Open a TAB account. Get bonus $50. Bet $150 on Ireland winning this weekend. Post another forum question Saturday around 9pm "I have $555 and I am struggling to spend it".

Some fruit trees. Plant them at your house, or somewhere public that allows it. Go back in 30 years. Sit under it. Enjoy the fruit and read a book while contemplating your wise choice about that one time I had a spare $100………….

'57 Rocket Bullet on trademe. Antiques are one of the things smart people spend their money on (Google)

  • Buy a kindle.

  • The trademe kindness store is a legend charity. You get all the choices of what to buy and who it goes to but the best part is it's 100% efficient. 100% of your donation gets to the people that need it unlike most charities

  • Anyone bet on Ireland to win against all blacks?

    • My father-in-law, who is Irish :-(
