Best value 4 slice toaster

Any recommendations on one that doesn't break the bank, and cooks the toast evenly on both sides would be great. Thanks

  • There are hundreds of awful toasters out there. We bought this one from KMart and I'm pretty happy with how evenly it cooks given the price, it fits fat things like crumpets and english muffins no probs: https://www.kmart.co.nz/product/4-slice-stainless-steel-toas…

I will say however that it's the second one we've had in the past 3 years, as the first one did burn out on us. I didn't bother trying to claim under warranty/CGA (couldn't find the receipt, hassle, blah, blah). But I liked it enough that I was willing to give it another chance (this time keeping the receipt).

  • I was looking last week, was tempted by a Russel Hobbs model down from $220 to $110 at Smiths City. But went for a Living & Co Toaster 4 Slice from The Warehouse via The Market for $40 after $10 off. All toasters seemed to have mixed reviews so I didn't see much point paying more for the same features. The Living & Co has a 2 year warranty so I'm prepared to give it a go.

Yup, got sick of trawling reviews where one says it cooks evenly, then the next says it doesn't.
Would be interested to hear how it toasts for you.

      • Hopefully we'll get it tomorrow. Went with The Market to save that extra $10 :D rather than buying instore. It's funny how the Warehouse has separate reviews for each colour of an item, like surely the red toaster isn't actually better than the others!

      • Hey, the (Black) Living & Co Toaster 4 Slice is fine so far. Both sides get toasted, one side is usually slighter darker than the other but not by much. Defrost mode works well. I like having 2 separate sets of slots, I've just toasted bread on one side and 2 slices of frozen fruit toast on the other.

  • I got this from the warehouse about 2 months ago - it's really great Kensington Toaster Matte Black

    • I was keen on that one, but no stock online or in Otago. Seemed slightly better than the cheaper one and looks better too.

    We've got this one:

Seems to do a decent job toasting evenly
