  • I'll grab a copy of that. Thank you.

  • Blast from the past there!

The first gaming console I ever bought myself was a Mega Drive. Mortal Kombat II cost $139 from Farmers in New Brighton, I don't know how much that is in todays money but it must be up around $250 at least. Crazy the prices some games used to be.

Or still are now based on your observations here

      • Yeah that's a one off store though that for some reason sells a lot of things for crazy high prices, like their Fellowes Laminator for $925.99 that you can get from OfficeMax for $593 (still don't know why that store exists on The Market). Back in the 90's the $140 I paid was the rrp of the game and it was that price everywhere not just one store putting a silly price on it and waiting for unsuspecting victims to walk in and buy it.

My mum bought my Mega Drive from that same Farmers… then we had to take it back because it was AV/composite only and my TV could only take the RF tuner thing. Think we picked up a second hand one from Buy, Sell & Exchange (ahh the days before Trademe) instead after that.

    • Wwf No Mercy cost me $160+ I think

    • I bought an N64 game for over $200 back in the 90s. So glad we have discs now!

      • Holy crap that’s a lot

Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Pretty sure I still have some old Sega mags tucked away somewhere.

Nice timing, I've just dug out a megadrive emulator so I can play an old favourite on my PC - Wiz n Liz. Surprisingly there are megadrives for sale on TradeMe too.

    • I’m selling one of them!
