Buying Stuff from Euroland - Buy Now or Wait for EUR/NZD to Fall?

Not looking for investment advice

I'm looking to buy around €2,000 worth of gear from Europe, but I can wait up to 2 months. Both the Kiwi and the Euro are getting clobbered against the USD at the moment with a lot of talk about EUR/USD parity, but for some reason the Kiwi is losing ground against the Euro as well recently, despite the higher NZ OCR and better economy.

So my question is: Any idea what's the EUR/NZD trend is in the next 2 months? Should I buy now or wait?

Woo, after going through the last two years, I'm not sure who can still claim they can predict the future…haha

  • I would just buy now.
Reason being is that no-one knows what's going to happen in two months time.
Things could improve dramatically or they could take a further turn for the worse. As well as exchange rates the actual price of whatever you're looking at could go up as well. There are so many variables that affect currency rates that it really is crystal ball gazing.
If you knew with certainty what was going to happen then you would make a killing on the Forex market.
I think anyone that tells you they know what the trend is going to be is kidding themselves - if they get it right it will just be luck.

  • My last purchase from Europe (Bike 24) took 2 months to get delivered via DHL instead of the websites estimate of 11-13 working days
