  • Here's the entire 'save on' promotion for video games. Been available for a while but it gets updated every other week or so.

    https://www.ebgames.co.nz/search?sort=price&order=asc&condit…

  • It's on Game Pass, and I recommend getting the PC version (digital version, preferably on Steam) if you're interested in buying a copy.

    • I'm in the market for a new laptop (just have a work one at the moment) and keen to get one sufficiently capable of running this. Any suggestions? I know nothing about processors, graphics cards etc.

      • Depends what your budget is, but to run flight simulator smoothly with high settings you'd need a pretty beefy system.

I recommend a laptop with a minimum of 16gb ddr4 ram, RTX 2080 / 3060 or higher, and an intel 11th gen or 12th gen i5/i7 or AMD ryzen 5600/5800 cpu or higher

      • Flight sim can run on modest hardware but it's also brutal to run well. I managed to mostly run it on an old it 3560k and rx570 gpu. I'd say as a minimum you'd want a dedicated rtx 3050 in a laptop to run it at all, preferably better. You also need the internet to use it as it streams in world data on the fly.

If it's only flight sim you want to play and you don't plan to use full on flight gear you'd actually probably just be better off buying an Xbox series S and remote playing from that to any old laptop. Latency isn't really an issue in this game and that will get you up and running well for the cheapest outlay.

Best deal will still be just get gamepass, especially if you want any other games. Try it for $1 and see how it goes then cancel, stack Xbox live up and convert it all. You'll get 2 years access to the game and many others for the same price as just flight sim.

      • I wouldn't recommend it to be played on a laptop, maybe unless it's a gaming laptop with a dedicated GPU. Unfortunately I don't expect xCloud to come to NZ anytime soon, so you can't stream it. Because of this for Flight Simulator I would recommend getting a desktop gaming PC with hardware controllers.

Give the $1 Game Pass trial a go, see if you like it. Only buy the title if you really, really like it.

Again I recommend getting the PC version over Xbox because the PC modding community makes a massive difference, and I specifically recommend the Steam version as the MS Store version is wrapped in the same DRM encrypted virtual drive as the Game Pass version, and so modding internal game files becomes impossible with the MS Store version.

    • Anyone know of any deals for the PC version?
The one on steam is $110 :/

      • Might as well consider Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for 2 years at that price (roughly $80).

        $87.92 Microsoft store
        $80.29 Eneba

      • Cjs cd keys or eneba.com they sell cd keys and you might find one for cheap

  • I didn't realize this was playable in VR. I've just spent all afternoon crashing light aircraft around the outskirts of Queenstown, I'm thinking I should probably give the tutorial a go tomorrow because flying planes isn't as easy as it looks in the movies.

  • It’s dropped to $29 now lol.
If only the pc version was this cheap…

    • It's the problem with Gamepass being so successful I guess, why would anyone pay $109 for 1 game that they'd be lucky to sell for $20 or $30 once they've finished with it when they can put that $109 towards a couple of years of Gamepass and get access to not only Microsoft Flight Sim on console or PC but also all the hundreds of other games as well?

  • CDKEYS sell the base PC version for $79. Not a bad deal.

  • +1

Is there a way to get a demo of this on pc? Before committing to purchasing?

    • No demo (as far as I'm aware). Your best bet might be to ask a mate if they Xbox game pass they can give you access to.

    • 1 $ game pass trial
