NZ's Most Hated Business?

Just wondering if there are some businesses that the public generally have no love for? I'd nominate Wilson Parking, lol. My nightmare is overstaying a few minutes in "free" parks at shopping malls. At least with Parkmate, we can avoid unreasonable fines at their paid parks. If they issue a reasonable fines, people will be happy to pay and won't hate them so much. Are they the only parking enforcement service in NZ?

Wilson f**king parking is what my mum and partner call them lol
My partner who is a nurse got a $65 parking ticket from them (while parked in a work car park). We tried to appeal, but they declined both times. Nothing like punishing those who are there to help and save others (and not earn much by doing it).

    • My colleagues occasionally parked at a Wilson park. Their early bird ticket was valid until 6pm. They got so many fines for overstaying 5-8 minutes. It was just outrageous. This was before apps times.

Countdown seems to have a pretty bad rep

Monkey business, people don't like monkey business especially primary school teachers and Grandparents.

  • I watched the 45 year anniversary of Fair Go last night. plenty of contenders there for most hated business(-people). :)

    • I didn't know about that show. Btw I'd also nominate my local council. If you have any business with them, good luck! What's the point of having them, really? They take ages to respond to anything, if you wait for them to roll up to check it out, let alone fix it, so much damage has already been done, so having paid outrageous rates ratepayers have to spend extra money or time to fix things themselves (noise, trees, slips, bursted pipes, blocked or broken roads etc).

  • HRV seems a bit shit

    • Does their product work? They call me every year.

Seems to be about as advertised, but they dont sell spare parts to the public (AFAIK) and the boxes have 'there are no user replaeable parts' molded into them. I've got some filters on order from a third party, so see how we go!

It's basically a box with a fan and a filter, some flexible ducting and a few grilles. It's expensive for what it is.

Well, they called themselves Heat Recovery Ventilation despite their systems not actually having any heat recovery ability. Hence why they rather carefully only refer to themselves as HRV these days. Make of that what you will.

Agreed with the below. Overpriced. It's a fan, controller, some ducting, and a filter. You could put one together yourself for a few hundred.

        • Yep, I agree. HRV is essentially a draught in the house that you pay to have.
