Themarket Customer Service

Why do you guys prefer shopping in the market?

Market has no phone number listed. No chat functionality either. The only means you can contact them is by submitting a request. Can it get any harder to request for return/refund? Absolute nightmare trying to return a massage gun

Edit: Just need their quick verdict, cos Idk if they'll refund at this point for my product. Chat team would've given me an answer by now but oh well. I'll see how it goes with the email team with back and forth mails

I can't answer for anyone else, but I shop at TheMarket if they have a product I want, at a good price.

I have found their service to be good, and have not had any issues with their customer service, including via email.

However, nobody is forcing you to purchase from them - just boycott (or are we supposed to use the newly invented concept of 'cancelling') them if you don't like them.

There is also another new concept recently invented called a 'search engine' - give it a go, and let us know whether you think the idea has any merit:

See what happens when you have a different point of view or introduce a little bit of sarcasm?
      Out come the down votes….

      • I am cut to the quick :-)

After my run-ins with Stanley, nothing can upset me any more.

@Alan6984 I appreciate the review but why give such a hateful vibe, to someone that's asked a genuine question

Snarky much? How about communicating your thoughts, without any unnecessarily snide remarks?

Not everyone is as smart. And I did look for their email and this is what I googled

nobody is forcing you to purchase from them -

How about you ignoring the post with an obvious question to you, as opposed to being unnecessarily rude and giving negative hate vibes, for no damn reason on a Monday?

  • I’ve purchased quite a few things from themarket and haven’t had any issues. I mostly buy from local stores. I ordered something a few months ago but after a week of nothing happening, I emailed them and they promptly replied. Was given a refund the following day. Never had to return anything though.

    • Yeah me too. I've had seamless returns with them in the past. Easier to communicate with chat feature as opposed to emailing back and forth. I miss it

  • Well i hope this helps.

    The Market is essentially….

The Warehouse Group, its actually owned by them. There version of mighty ape

When things go right there okay, However when u need to contact or have an issue they are absolutely shit.

For me i ordered a product, it took 3 months to arrive. Had a eta on website of 2 weeks. Took them 2 weeks to reply to basic email requests… This was last month.

Also i would follow this if you plan to refund

    https://help.themarket.com/hc/en-us/articles/360023456034-Re…

Read here and there is a refund form.

Cheers. That's what I've done so far. Mine is from 1-day. Assuming it's going to take a bit of time for them to refund

      • Yes one day is the slower one as they dont have physical store and deal with overseas suppliers.

If it was a noels or warehouse purchase i think they are far quicker

        • They haven't emailed back. Since it's purchased months back, order is in closed status and can't initiate refund from my end through their app UI

  • I have a feeling that this is not unique to The Market, basically whatever you do/buy, just hope nothing goes wrong, otherwise it's going to be a nightmare getting support from the vendor. There's another thread about NL taking their own sweet time providing support (another company under TWH group…haha).

    • Yeah you'd think so but clearly not. We'll see how long they take for mine to be refunded

    • Yeah tell me about it, sigh. Things have changed in the recent few months clearly

  • There online forms are easy to used. Did multiple refunds and it worked smoothly. Hell, they said to keep the item(sent wrong one) and they would refund me

    • Glad it worked for you. Hopefully it works for me. How long ago did you do yours though

      • Hmm 4 days ago. Refund just obtained so it was quick.

        • Did you have to pop by one of their warehouse drop off locations to return the product for examination before refunds?

  • The only problem I see with online forms as the primary/only form of contact is that you usually have to wait 2 or 3 days for the initial reply which can be frustrating especially if you've got a faulty product and want/need an answer straight away. I find though that once you receive your first reply back from the company with your case/job/ref number then further communications are quite quick.

I bet the people working for The Market in their customer service center must love not being yelled at and abused over the phone by irate customers with zero people skills a few times a week, the worst they have to deal with now is people yelling at them in all caps.

    • YES, exactly. Thank you. Just need the verdict , cos Idk if they'll refund at this point. It's been 7 months since the date of purchase and its page didn't list warranty period for this 65$ massage gun. Hopefully they do

      • My view is that a domestic product that costs $65 can be reasonably expected to have a life of more than seven months (not an absolute given, but in general) if used in line with the instructions (not being used ten hours a day in a salon for example).

If they do refuse to come to the party, you could quote the CGA to them - that often gets a more realistic response if you have been having problems.

Also, they can offer anything they like as a 'remedy', and you are free to accept or reject any offer they make (and take it further if you want to, but for a $65 product it might not be worth it). If they offer a partial refund of some amount, you could choose to accept that, but I would guess that if you keep at it, they will eventually give up and refund the whole $65 - just a guess though.

        • I'll see how it goes. They haven't emailed back. and I can't initiate refund from my end through their app UI

I'll have to wait for them to get back

  • I did a return a few weeks ago, purchased from Noel Leeming.
The Market return said it would take up to 14 days, and on the 14th day I received a refund.

    • Did you have to drop off the product in their store in person as return?

      • Yes I dropped it at Noel Leeming after I filled in the return form on The Market. I believe you can drop it at any of The Market pickup locations.

    • Seems to be variable - perhaps it was the item that made the difference. I bought an item and the next day (after it had shipped) and the price went on special and dropped by $300 - so I bought a second one and returned the first one. As it was un opened - even unwrapped from the shipping - I got a refund within the day from memory, maybe max the next day. No questions asked, all very simple.

      • Yes my product was faulty so it had to be sent back for assessment

  • The Market has been really great with warranty too, purchased a Jaybird Vista that broke down less than 1 year after purchasing, and they assisted me in all the warranty claims and refund with Noel Leeming. You just need to bring the product to your nearest Noel Leeming (they will provide invoice number etc) and they'll refund me straight away.

    • They haven't emailed back. Since it's purchased months back, order is in closed status and can't initiate refund from my end through their app UI

Did you get in touch with them through chat, when they had that option?

      • I got in touch through the form that you filled in - I did it through the PC website tho (maybe it's quicker - not 100% sure). They usually took 3-7 business days to respond.

  • I only buy from them when there are coupons/discounts that make items cheaper than anywhere else. Otherwise is usually cheaper to just buy direct from the seller.

They are NZ based so CGA still applies.

Returns are a pain because you can't just walk into NL/TWH and get one right away, even if you bought from those stores via The Market - you have to go through some convoluted system where TM needs to approve, then you take the item back to the seller, then you eventually get a refund days later.
