Deal Posting Guidelines on Mobile

G'day all.

I noticed that when you publish a deal on a mobile, there isn't a deal posting guidelines section to click on. Is it possible to have a link in there somewhere?

There seems to be an increase in deals that do not satisfy the requirements of a deal post. A link there might have no effect but think it's useful nonetheless.

Thank you.

  • That's a good point, although hard to fit everything on the screen on mobile at once which is why I will always try and use my laptop where possible.

Couple of other things I would find useful (not just on mobile).

Title: Show the character count so you know how much space you have left. Deals such as The Warehouse Market Club offers always max out the character count and make it easier to write 'on the fly' knowing how much space you have left.

Start / Expiry: Add in a box for time, not just date.
A number of deals start/end at times outside of midnight and unless you know to add the time manually after the date a deal poster may not be aware they can change the time.

  • Also, a bit more niche, but is there a way to add a referral link for a different website?

I recently posted a deal for Zip but it is used on The Market. Would be useful to be able to add The Market referral system to the post. Could it be as simple as adding the 'Alternative Store:' box that pops up when posting a deal that links to an image?

    • Although the discount is specific to Zip payment types, the coupon can only be applied The Market website. In this situation it's appropriate to link to the merchant selling the goods rather than Zip itself. If you look on Ozbargain you'll see we typically link to the merchant rather than zip.co

With the deal submission form on the mobile UI — we're actually looking at rehauling the deal submission form on both desktop / mobile in the future, adding too much text into the deal submission form makes it look cluttered / busy (especially on smartphone displays). This is a fairly complex task for a variety of reasons and unfortunately I can't give you an ETA of when that's rolled out (it's been put on the back burner a couple of times in the last 2 years).

(Will still take your suggestions on board).

      • Cheers for the response scrimshaw.
