so i went into purchase some whiteware and other misc. items and to my surprise you can no longer get airpoints there.
Did anyone else know about this or is this something they quietly removed?

  • Noticed that too. Seems like Smiths City has taken over as the appliance/home store offering airpoints

    • too bad theres no smiths city anymore in auckland

  • Yeah, they stopped a few years ago sadly

  • Mitre10 also does not allow you to spend points dollars in-store, but you can still earn points when making purchases.

    • Don't you have to redeem at airpoints store for evoucher. Same result but extra steps

      • that was their initial method, purchase a gift to spend at m10, later you could spend the airpoints directly at the store but now reverted back to the old ways

        • Its actually better now - at least for me.

Previously, you could use your AirPoints at the point of sale, but only if your total spend was over $75 I think.

Now I can get them to send me a gift card ($20 or $50 or whatever), and I can use that gift card on any purchase at all.

Big improvement from my perspective. I guess if you are spending large amounts regularly, then perhaps it adds another step that you didn't have before, but for me it seems an improvement.

          Alan.

          • @Alan6984: Extra step in my case. So with an evoucher now, do you just give the numbers to the teller or provide a print out?

    • Agreed with farmer. You can no longer spend points directly but you can still buy Mitre10 gifts cards from Airpoints Store and you can spend it the same way in store using gift cards. I usually get about $1500-2000 Airpoints a year and I made my last purchase last week from Mitre10
