50% off shortdated Macadamia Milk 'Macamilk' ($25 + $5 Shipping for 8x 1L) @ Plant Projects

60
MACA50

Got an email from these guys saying they're getting rid of some short dated Macamilk - it's a fancy new plant based macadamia milk. Usually too expensive for me (at $50 for a box of 8L it's not really cheapies style…) But I might give it a whirl for 50% off.

Best before 14th Feb. $5 shipping brings total to $30 for 8x 1L cartons.

  • Wow, still almost $4/L (inc shipping) and that is 50% off??
    Why is this stuff so expensive?

    • Yeah it's friggin pricey for sure. To be fair, macadamia nuts in general are expensive - like $70 a kg from a quick google. Even if you were making your own macadamia nut milk it would probably cost you close to $10 just for the nuts.

      But at almost $4 a litre for this stuff, I agree, it's a fair bit.

      • *$10 for the nuts to make 1L

    • I think the price is definitely very expensive without the 50% off - but keep in mind that even oat milk is still approx. $3.50 or so on special (and oats are considerably cheaper than macadamia nut), and cashew milk is around similar price point ($3.50 - $4.00). So $30 incl shipping for 8L is not half bad for me!

    Just remembered this was the company that mislead a whole lot of cheapies members in buying their products last year and many users received already expired/nearly expired milk from them

    • Yep, I did not get suck in then, cos I thought the clearance price was still way too expensive vs. my Pams soy milk at 3x1L for $5…haha

      • Where are you getting Pams for that price? My P&S has them at $2.29 each

        • I just checked, PnS Westgate (Auckland) is where I usually get them, it's even cheaper now, 2 for $3

            @akrotohur: Damn, that's a deal man. Seems I'm getting fleeced for those in the South Island (they're actually $2.39 right now). As a family of 4 we go through pretty much 1 carton a day. If I could get them at that price I'd save over $300 a year.

            • @Rubenite: They are $2 each at PnS Porirua (Wellington) so not just the south island! Have been $2.50 until just a few weeks ago!

    • I missed that - what was that deal??

        a headache

    • To be fair to PP, the OP of that deal was the one that forgot to mention the expiry dates.

    TIL nuts have nipples.

  • Sesame seed milk can be easily made at home:
    1/4 cup sesame seeds soaked overnight (6-8 hrs) {drain the water}
    1 cup of cold water
    1-2 dates {if you don't add can be bitter}
    1/4 TSP cinnamon powder { enhances taste and can have milk drinkable by itself}
    Blend in mixer grinder.No need of muslin cloth or siev

    Countdown value brand Sesame seeds 300gms / $3
    Much cheaper if you get from Asian store
