Recommendation for Karcher Surface Cleaner for Driveway

Hi,

I am looking for the surface cleaner for my Karcher k3. I want to clean my driveway.

I saw this T5 surface cleaner -$149 @ Mitre10. Possibly can price match to tradetested.

Also, found this generic surface cleaner at AliExpress for $30.

Anyone got any experience with either of them. Any recommendations?

AliExpress one looks fine to me for my purpose and not sure if $100+ on the original one is the way to go. Only thing I can see in original one is the height adjustment for the nossle.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

  • Wow no one 🤦‍♂️. No one washes their driveways looks like.

  • Heya, i have T5 from few years ago. it depends on how much area is required to clean in one go. I have paved backyard around 100m2 and front area around 100m2 too. I do it in over 2-3 days. It’s exhausting for me as i am not pro. However its simple and just works. Never tried other brands so no idea of the differences. Thanks

    • Thanks. I think I have around 50-70m2 so it should be fine in a day.

  • Haven't used it before, but $1 cheaper at bunnings. 15% off price match at m10

  • I haven't tried anything Karcher but I have experience with pressure washing and from what I'm seeing I feel as though you may be disappointed. Pressure washing cement requires high pressure, high flow that is unachievable with an electric machine if you are wanting to use a surface attachment. With a powerful enough electric machine, you can use the wand and slowly wash at a tight spray angle which will take a very long time if you have a lot of surface to cover. But attaching a surface cleaner for cement is not going to be effective and certainly not get you the type of results you see in the pressure washing videos. It may be comparable to watering your driveway.

I don't know why they are advertising it as being able to clean cement, but anything that is safe enough to use on a car is like a joke to use on concrete

If you are wanting to remove algae on your driveway that will be possible with the attachment but again I would still just recommend doing it with the wand. Most importantly pretreat with sodium hypochlorite.

    • Thanks for the insight. I did use the dirt blaster lance on part of the driveway. It worked nicely, but as you say it is slow process and it will take too long to finish not to mention draining myself along with extra water as well. So was thinking of getting the surface attachment as it can come handy on my deck as well.

Might have a look at trademe/fb for seconds so as not to burn myself too much and if I can get a cheap deal.
