I usually end up buying the 12 month subscription every year for my son's birthday during the Playstation Days of Play sales.
All the retailers end up having it and I think it was about $60 (off the top of my head!).
From memory it's in about the end of May /June each year.
I realise there is no guarantee it will happen next year, but If they do it for $60 in May, maybe better to wait until then?

I've bought it for the last three years around this time (son's birthday is in July so it's always before then).
Obviously no guarantees but you definitely don't need to pay full price - particularly as a Cheapie!
@bigcheese: They usually have this sale at least twice a year (Days of Play and Black Friday, and I think they have done it at another point in the year previously too). Think it is around 25% to 33% when they do it.

I only bother getting it once a year and seems to be about 33% off.
They literally just ended their annual PS+ subscription deal that they run every November. I stocked up on 3 more years for $60/year
Saw that in the Playstation Facebook Group. Apparently people think Spartacus (competitor to Xbox Game Pass) will replace PS+ and so they bought it up to 2036
With the terrible games this month, I would view this as an 11 month subscription :P
Is DC Villains bad? It's just in time for approaching school holidays for my kids to play. But agree, won't bother with the rest of the monthly offerings. Don't think there has been a decent monthly one for me since Overcooked All You Can Eat…
Its one of the better Lego games. I think a lot of people just aren't a fan but the Lego games are good if you like the franchise they are based on.

"You buy 1 year first, turn off auto renew and buy another year straight away. I did it and my expiry is 2 years. Try that."
But to throw some caution to the wind, this comment over at Geekzone reckons:
"Normally they stack but this is for new and inactive accounts so I'm not sure if you can buy more than one. Stacking works where if you're a current subscriber and the subscription ends next month for example, if you buy another one it'll kick in automatically on the expiry date of your current subscription. But to answer your question it'll apply to your account as soon as it's paid for."
Can you still redeem the free games online if you don't have a PlayStation? Thinking about signing up for this now to start collecting free games for when I eventually get a PS5 down the track..
yes you can redeem via sony PlayStation app or from the website
Yah! Will this just apply from when my current 12 month sub expires next year (which I think I also paid $45 for mid this year)? Ie I can hold off on using until my current sub runs out?
